101 Easy Ways to Decorate your Home for Christmas

Giggles!! It is never to early to start preparing for Christmas:) I have had this list printed out for years, and I made a Holiday Binder, that helps me stay organized for the holidays. Some of these ideas are really neat, and others I just skip. I thought I would post it here on my blog just in case some of you would like to see it:)

1.
Create a charming display of teddy bears dressed for the season. Gather together three or more teddy bears and arrange them on a table or on the floor in a corner. Dress the bears with touques, scarves and mittens. Place candy canes in their hands or tie bows around their necks. You can even wrap up some small, empty boxes with Christmas wrapping paper to place in the bears' hands.

2.
Make simply bows from Christmas print ribbon and pin them to your curtains.

3.
Display a collection of nativity scenes from different cultures.

4.
Hang a collection of Christmas stocking on your mantle, a shelf or the wall (even if you don't stuff them). The more the merrier.

5.
Revisit your childhood. Cut snowflakes from white paper and hang them in all of your windows.

6.
Use red and green 3-dimensional fabric paints to trace simple Christmas patterns (like stars, bells, Santas, stockings, etc.) on a white tablecloth.

7.
Buy a clear plastic shower curtain. Use a hot glue gun to attach Christmas decorations to the outside of the curtain. Don't use breakable ornaments - instead, try small wooden or plastic ornaments (remove any hooks), bows, garland, etc.

8.
Dress up your house plants - hang small Christmas ornaments on them.

9.
Tie a red ribbon around a tall, slim drinking glass. Fill the glass with candy canes and display on a shelf or side table.

10.
Fill a small glass bowl or decorative Christmas bowl with small cones and display on end tables, shelves, buffet tables, etc.

11.
Purchase plain green or red place mats and attach Christmas ribbons, bows or small wooden ornaments with a hot glue gun.

12.
For quick ornaments, hang Christmas cookie cutters with ribbon. Hang them on your tree or in a window.

13.
Decorate plain red, white, green or gold candles with 3-dimensional fabric paint. Draw stars, bells, angels, snowmen, etc. If you make a mistake, let the paint dry and peal it off, then start again.

14.
Create a cookie wreath centerpiece for your table. Just arrange Christmas cookies in a wreath shape right on the table cloth. No need to attach them to anything 'cause everyone will want to nibble at them. If you like, place a pillar candle on a small plate in the center of the wreath.

15.
Pile a collection of Christmas books on a side table.

16.
Purchase an inexpensive mail box. Spray paint it red or green. Use craft paints to add simple Christmas shapes (
use our patterns), or attach store-bought ornaments with a hot glue gun (make sure your ornaments will be able to stand up to the elements).

17.
If you have a large, bare outside wall, try this simple idea. Cut a Christmas silhouette from a piece of plywood (a silhouette of Santa, a snowman, etc works well). Using screws, attach your silhouette to a short post that you can drive into the ground. You'll want the silhouette to stand right a ground level several feet away from the wall. Position a spot light on the other side of the silhouette so that it will shine on the silhouette and project a large shadow on the wall. We've seen this done with a silhouette of Joseph leading Mary who is sitting on a donkey. It's beautiful.

18.
Wrap indoor Christmas lights around a railing or banister. Secure periodically with tape. Be careful to tape down the electrical cord so that no one trips over it.

19.
Add color to a room with vases of red and white flowers. Use roses, carnations, mums, daisies, etc. Or, float the flowers in large crystal or glass bowls.

20.
Wrap an assortment of medium to large sized boxes with Christmas wrap. Attach ribbons and/or bows. Pile the boxes in a corner from floor to ceiling.

21.
Sew scraps of Christmas print fabric into a patchwork tablecloth. Simply cut your fabric into square pieces and stitch together. Hem the entire cloth. Sew ribbon the edges, if you like. Make smaller cloths to cover end tables, night tables, TV trays, shelving, etc.

22.
Cover an end table or a shelf with white paper. Arrange cut evergreen boughs on to cover the table top. Place tall tapered candles in glass candleholders here and there on the table top. Before lighting candles, be sure that the greenery is not close enough to catch fire.

23.
Use pliers to bend coat hangers into a simple wire-frame tree shape. Wrap a string of outdoor Christmas light around the frame, attaching with electrical tape or duct tape. Stick the decoration in a flower bed or on your front lawn.

24.
Hang mistletoe everywhere. Use false or fresh mistletoe.

25.
Wrap your doors in Christmas wrapping paper and attach large bows make from fabric or purchased at your local craft store.

26.
String a ribbon from one end of a wall to another. Attach the ribbon to the wall (at each corner) with thumbtacks. Clip Christmas cards to the ribbon with clothespins. If the ribbon is too long, the weight of the cards will pull it off the wall, so tack it here and there with more thumbtacks.

37.
Purchase a large glass plate. Paint the underside of the plate with gold craft paint. Dry. Place the plate on a table and fill with several white or off-white pillar candles of varying sizes.

28.
Make basic sugar cookies or gingerbread cookies. Before baking, make a hole toward the top of each cookie using a straw. Bake and cool. String a ribbon through each cookie and hang them on your Christmas tree.

29.
String popcorn, cranberries, cereal, beads, etc. and hang the garlands everywhere.

30.
Make some old-fashioned tree decorations. Wrap nuts with aluminum foil; use a needle and thread to stitch a thread through the foil for hanging. Glue ribbon to pine cones for hanging. String popcorn streamers. Make paper chains. Cut snowflakes from white paper.

46.
Add a few drops of food coloring to white glue. Put the glue into a squeeze bottle or icing piping bag. Draw simple Christmas star outlines on waxed paper. Pipe glue onto the paper, following your drawn outlines. Dry. Peel glue ornaments off of the waxed paper and hang in windows with thread or ribbon.

32.
Cut pictures out of old Christmas cards and create a collage by gluing them onto a piece of poster board. You can frame the poster board if you like or simply hang it on the wall.

33.
Wrap a lampshade with translucent Christmas tissue paper. Put the paper on the outside of the lamp shape, overlapping the edges just a little and tape the edges down on the inside. Be careful that the tissue paper doesn't come too close to the light bulb or it may catch fire.

34.
Replace your fish tank background mural with a piece of Christmas wrapping paper or a collage made out of pictures cut from Christmas cards.

35.
Twist garland or popcorn strings around railings or banisters and secure here and there with tape.

36.
Using a glue gun, glue candy canes, side-by-side (standing on end with their hooks at the top) to the outside of a terra cotta pot. Tie a red ribbon around the pot. Place a small poinsettia inside the pot or fill the pot with wrapped candy.

37.
Tape a doily to the outside of a glass canister or clean glass mayonnaise jar. Spray the outside of the container with artificial snow. Dry. Remove the doily. Fill the container with cookies, candy, ornaments, etc.

38.
Remove your favorite pictures from their frames. Wrap the frames with Christmas wrap and replace the pictures.

39.
Make a gingerbread house. They make wonderful centerpieces or decorations for any table top.

40.
Use scraps of Christmas print fabric to create quick sachets. Place two pieces of fabric right sides together. Pin a paper pattern of a Christmas shape to the fabric (
use our basic patterns). Cut the shape out of both layers of fabric. Stitch the fabric layers together all along the edge, leaving a one inch gap. Turn the sachet right side out. Fill the sachet with potpourri. Hand stitch the gap closed. Place your sachets in a basket by the front door so you can hand them to departing guests (meanwhile, they'll fill your entryway with wonderful scent).

41.
Use a child's Christmas pop-up book as a centerpiece. Just open the book up to a desirable picture and place the open book in the center of your table.

42.
Hang a large December wall calendar on your wall. Count down the days to Christmas by gluing a brightly-colored bow on each passing day.

43.
Tie five or six cinnamon sticks into a bundle using red ribbon. Create a bunch of these bundles and display them in a bowl or on a plate. Or, tuck bundles into nooks and crannies on shelves and table. They add a nice scent to your room.

44.
Pull out your old toy trains. Run the track around the perimeter of the Christmas tree.

45.
Paint the inside of a glass white to simulate milk. Display the glass along with a plate full of cookies and a hand-written Santa's wish list. It looks great if you take a bite or two out of one cookies.

46.
For easy Christmas tableware, tie red, green, or gold ribbons to the stems of wine glasses or the handles of cutlery.

47.
To make a decorative cookie plate, glue cinnamon sticks and whole cloves to the edges of a large plate.

48.
Cut pictures from Christmas cards and Christmas wrap. Decoupage the pictures to the inside of a serving tray. Be sure to cover the entire surface of the tray. Once all the pictures are in place, cover the entire inside surface of the tray with one or two more layers of decoupage medium.

49.
Screw small hooks into the ceiling and hang indoor Christmas lights from them.

50.
Print your favorite cookie recipe on Christmas stationary (or print it on a white piece of paper and have it photo copied onto Christmas stationary). Roll each recipe up like a scroll. Tie the scroll with ribbon. Place the scrolls in a basked by your front door so you can give them to departing guests. You could also bake up a batch of cookies. Wrap each cookie separately in plastic wrap and attach one cookie to each scroll with ribbon (string the ribbon through a hole in the plastic wrap).

51.
To add a lot of color to a room quickly, use red or green towels, blankets or even scraps of fabric as throws for your chairs, couch, tables, etc. Large pieces of polar fleece make great, cuddly throws.

52.
Display colored glass ball ornaments or even beads in bowls instead of hanging them on your tree.

53.
Wash and dry half a dozen small jars (it's better if they're all different sizes and shapes). Fill each jar 2/3 full of water and add a couple of drops of red or green food coloring to each jar. Stir. Place one sprig of evergreen in each jar and display the jars in a group on a table or line them up in a row on a shelf or window sill.

54.
Use children's bath crayons (for coloring in the bathtub) to draw Christmas decorations on your mirrors and windows.

55.
Spray paint the outside of large, clean coffee cans with gold, red or green paint and use them as cookie cannisters. Once painted, you can decorate further by using decoupage medium to glue Christmas card cutouts to the cans, or use a hot glue gun to attach small plastic or wooden ornaments, tinsel, garland, whole spices etc.

56.
Using a small brush, paint the tips of pine cones with gold craft paint. Place on a rack or piece of waxed paper to dry. Display cones in bowls or vases or attach a ribbon and hang them on your tree.

57.
Spruce up plain red or green bath towels with Christmas ribbon attached using a hot glue gun or ironed on with fusible web.

58.
Create an easy wall hanging using a piece of sheet music for a Christmas carol. Cut a piece of red poster board a few inches larger than the sheet music and glue the music to the center of the poster board. Use a hot glue gun to glue a small sprig of artificial holly to the top right-hand corner of the sheet music.

59.
Create an inexpensive set of Christmas glassware. Purchase a set of glasses or mugs and paint holly leaves and berries on the outside of each glass or mug using red and green glass paint.

60.
Dress up your dinner table: cover the table with a plain red, green or white tablecloth and sprinkle with red, green or gold cut-outs from your party decorations store. Or, make your own cuts out with specially shaped hole punches and solid colored wrapping paper.

61.
Turn an old blanket chest into a treasure chest. Place the chest on the floor against a wall and open the lid (prop the lid up securely if it's prone to closing by itself). Line the inside of the chest with fiber fill to create the illusion of snow. Drape strings of beads and white indoor Christmas lights over the chest. Fill the chest with wrapped presents or wrapped empty boxes. Sprinkle with gold-wrapped chocolate coins.

62.
Create personalized gingerbread men as place cards for your dining table. Use colored icing to decorate each gingerbread man with a guest's hair color and usual clothing. Using icing to print each person's name across the chest of the gingerbread man.

63.
Paint a terra cotta flower pot gold using craft paint. Let paint dry. Glue on plastic or glass "gems". Let glue dry. Pipe white glue in a circle around the perimeter of each "gem". While the glue is still wet, sprinkle on gold sparkles. Let glue dry. Fill pots with flowers, nuts or candy.

64.
Create an eclectic centerpiece using a large glass plate. Place a collection of containers on the plate. Use small bowls, vases, candle holders, flower pots, clean ash trays, etc. Fill each container with a different type of nut or candy.

65.
Purchase inexpensive plain lampshades for your lamps. Use a hot glue gun to attach fabric bows (in Christmas prints) to the shades.

66.
Trim door frames, window frames and the edges of mirrors with Christmas garland (secure with tape).

67.
Place 1/2 cup of whole cloves on a plate. Apply white glue to the outside of a small terra cotta flower pot. Roll the pot in the cloves so that the outside of the pot is completely covered with cloves. You may have to press more cloves onto the pot in places. Let the glue dry. Tie a red ribbon around the outside of the pot - knot the ribbon. Tie three cinnamon sticks into the ribbon (knot the ribbon around the sticks). Tie the ends of the ribbon into a bow. Use the pot as a flower pot or fill it with potpourri.

68.
Decorate with mittens, gloves, touques and scarves. String jute cord from one end of a room to another and clip knit items to the cord with clothespins.

69.
Purchase small bells from your craft store. Tie each bell to a piece of ribbon between 6" and 18" in length. Gather all of the ribbons together and knot together at the top. Drape the bells over a door knob so that they ring when someone enters or exits.

70.
Poinsettias are a beautiful way to add Christmas color to a room. But don't just stop at one. Create a stunning display using at least six plants - all different sizes. Group them together, larger plants in the back. Tie a large gold fabric ribbon around the whole group of pots. Sprinkle the plants with gold glitter.

71.
Wrap a large empty coffee can in Christmas wrapping paper (leave the top open). Place and the floor, add some water and fill with evergreen branches. This looks wonderful on its own, or you can hang ornaments from the branches.

72.
Replace your usual curtain valence with a large piece of Christmas print fabric, draped over your curtain rod.

73.
Tie bows around door knobs.

74.
Create an easy wreath. Tear Christmas print fabric into strips (or use ribbon, instead). Wrap a styrofoam wreath with the fabric or ribbon. Hang the wreath as is, or hot glue Christmas picks, ornaments, nuts, candies, etc. to it.

75.
Wrap a table in Christmas wrapping paper.

76.
Purchase cork place mats or coasters, Christmas print stamps and red/green/gold stamp pads. Then, stamp shapes onto your coasters and place mats. You can even stamp shapes onto your table cloths and napkins.

77.
Cut pictures of people and objects from Christmas cards. Glue each object to a magnet sheet. Cut the pictures out of the magnet sheet. Stick the magnets to your fridge. Visitors can arrange your magnets into scenes.

78.
Put some color into your bathroom. Display red and green glycerin soaps, bath gels and oils.

79.
Use florist wire to wire Christmas picks to railings, banisters and door knobs.

80.
Make a snowman. Better yet, make a whole snow family or even a whole snow village!

81.
Wrap your front door in plain white paper and decorate with a large bow. Place red and green pens by the front door and have guest sign the door as they leave your home.

82.
Cut pictures from Christmas cards and pin them to your curtains or bedspread.

83.
Purchase inexpensive white bathroom accessories (soap dish, toothbrush holder, garbage can, etc.). Paint holly leaves and red berries on the accessories using craft paints. Or, use a hot glue gun to attach bows, sequins, beads, buttons, etc.

84.
Create an red and green display in your kitchen using a collection standard food items. Jars of olives, sun dried tomatoes, pickles, red peppers, cans with red or green labels.

85.
Quick wreath: Use a glue gun to attach nuts or wrapped candies to a styrofoam wreath. Attach a large red ribbon.

86.
Paint nuts gold with craft paint (use a variety of nuts of different shape). Line a large bowl or basket with Christmas greenery (artificial or real), fill the bowl wit oranges, apples and the gold nuts. Add a large red bow.

87.
Display a large collection of photos from Christmases past. This makes a sensational conversation piece. Use a collection of odd frames or create frames using colored cardboard or craft foam. Instead of displaying each picture individually, you can create a collage. Use a large piece of red craft foam. Cut photos into interesting shapes (just cut around what's important in the photos). Glue the photos to the foam, overlapping them and leaving a 1" - 2" border of red foam showing. Cut holly leaves from green craft foam. Glue three leaves to each corner of the red foam frame. Cut small circles from left-over red foam (these are the holly berries). Glue them next to the holly leaves.

88.
Make a Christmas bedspread. Trim the edges of a large piece of red polar fleece with pinking shears. Stitch a collection of mittens to one side of the fleece.

89.
Put a Christmas screen saver on your computer.

90.
Paint Christmas stars or bells on the outside of your bathtub or on your shower curtain using washable children's soap crayons.

91.
Place a plate full of wrapped Christmas baking by the front door as parting gifts for guests.

92.
Remove your mugs from their cup hooks and hang Christmas ornaments in their place. You can do the same thing with spoon racks or key racks.

93.
Shred colored paper and use it to line a basket. Fill the basket with red and green scented votive candles.

94.
Make a fresh flower garland using red carnations. You'll need a few dozen carnations. Cut the stems off just below the bud. String a length of double thread on a needle (make the thread as long as the garland you want to make). String the buds together by pushing the needle through the bud and out the top of the flower. Tie the ends of the garland together, if you wish. This garland should be stored in the fridge.

95.
Decorate with giant cookies. Mix up your favorite sugar cookie or gingerbread cookie recipe. Roll out the dough. Instead of cutting into small cookies, cut out one tree shaped cookie using a knife. Don't bother using a pattern. A hand-cut shape has more charm. Transfer to a cookie sheet and bake. Cool. Cover with icing made of confectioner's sugar, green food coloring and water (no butter). While the icing is still wet, decorate your tree with peppermint candies, M & M's, jujubes, etc. Let the icing set. Your giant cookie can be displayed on a plate or you can wrap up a box in colored foil wrap and glue your cookie to the front of the box with dollops of icing. The box can be displayed lying down or standing on end.

96.
Make simple Christmas puppets. Cut Santas, angels, snowmen, etc. from old Christmas cards. Paint craft stick red or green. Attach one cut-out to each stick using tape. The kids can play with these or, you can display them in a vase or a bowl. Just fill the vase or bowl with beads, nuts, candies, etc. and stick the puppets' sticks into the bowl.

97.
Wrap your plant pots in red or green foil wrap. You don't even have to remove the plants first.

98.
Create a display by your front door with unused boots. Assemble a group of boots and fill them with wrapped gifts or empty boxes.

99.
Purchase an inexpensive glass vase (or better yet, three or four vases). "Paint" the vase with white glue and roll in red or green sparkles. Use the vase to display a large collection of white or red carnations.

100.
To create an easy Christmas card display, purchase a large red bow that has a vertical ribbon attached. Hang the bow and ribbon and pin Christmas cards to the ribbon, starting near the top.

101.
Paint fruit such as apples and pears with egg white and roll in gold sparkles. Air dry on a rack and display in a basket along with nuts.

Cows

Cows, I love cows. I have been collecting cows for many years. I have always wanted to live on a farm and have my very own cows..LOL. There is just something about the country life, that seems so peaceful, and cows to me repersent that to me. How funny do you think it would be for me to have a cow on the beach? I did find a picture of a cow on a surfboard, and I framed it--it is cute:)

Apple Pie Monday

When morning comes, are you excited to start the new day--or do you hit the snooze several times before you get up? I actually wake up before my alarm goes off, but I have it on just in case I don't wake up. I love starting each new day, and can't wait to get up..LOL.

Also before I fall asleep at night, I usually lay in bed and think about things I would like to do the next day. What I might bake, what I may make for dinner, do I need to go to the store, what project will I start--and sometimes, I even think about what I might wear.Today is Monday, and I have a lot to do today. My asthma had flared up really bad last week, from catching a cold and the California fires, the smoke just really irritated my lungs. I tried not to do too much over the weekend, so I wouldn't make my asthma worse--I haven't had an attack like that in years. My sweet husband took Alexis to the pumpkin patch yesterday, so she could ride the ponies, I stayed home, I don't think being outside would have been good for me.
So on my agenda---A couple loads of laundry
Make an apple pie--yummy
Clean out pumpkins and roast the seeds--I love pumpkin seeds.
Make little meatballs for tonight's dinner
and then all the normal daily stuff---keep kitchen tidy, vacuum, etc....:)

You all have an absolutely warm and safe Monday xoxoxox
I think we should all bake an apple pie today:)

My Pumpkin Pie:)

I made this pumpkin pie this afternoon. I bet it made my home smell lovely...I couldn't smell it, because of my cold...LOL:)

Wonderful Wednesday:)

I went to the Doctors Monday:) I am 3 months and 3 days---My due date is May 6th--and if the ultrasound coincides with me and my doctor, my c-section will be scheduled for April 26th:)

I heard the heartbeat and cried--happy tears:) I think I look pregnant (little baby bump), but everyone says no..LOL--and I just say, oh, you all just think I am gaining weight..LOL.

All my stats are fine, so far---I am going for an ultrasound on Friday, and they have this new ultrasound test that gives you statistics of down syndrome, and since I am 36 I qualify for the test, since I refused the amnio, which the Doctor agreed, he said 36 is still young, and not high risk in my book--I love my doctor. It would not make a difference, because I will love whatever God decides is right for me--but, I may be able to find out the sex---->that is what I am looking for, and also I want to see my baby:)

My daughter caught a cold a couple days ago, she is feeling better now, but it is has decided to move into me..LOL--icky cold, sore throat ...etc. Today is my semi-free today, so hopefully I can read and post a little more today, in between my laundry and housework--I think I am going to make a pumpkin pie today too:) Tuesdays and Fridays I am room mom in my daughter's class, and Thursday's I take my Grandma shopping, plus my kids have teeth cleaning appointments at the dentists this Thursday and next. I am on the PTA, and this is RED RIBBON week, so we had a parade through town after school--it was so cute--I took some pictures, of my daughter marching, I will post soon--my son was there, but was too cool too march..LOL. I am a SAHM, so when I say free day, I mean no room mom, pta, doctor/Dentist, shopping with my Grandma..etc---and my free day usually falls on Wednesday--okay did I just confuse all of you....LOL. Anyway, I am so very excited for Friday, and the Doctor says there is a chance if the baby cooperates I can find out the sex----do I have a preference?? no--but it would be nice to know, so I can start preparing for my precious child:) You all have a wonderful Wednesday xoxox

Breaded Pork Strips and Other Fun Stuff:)

I made these for dinner last night. I dipped the pork strips in egg then dredged them in a mixture of flour and onion soup mix---and then I fried them. They turned out crispy on the outside and moist in the inside. This is a family favorite, and anything fried, my husband just loves, being the southern man he is...LOL:)

Tonight I am going to make homemade eggrolls--I will let you know tomorrow how they turn out:)

I took my Grandmother shopping yesterday, so I have a free day at home today, my machines are going----I love a busy working home--my dishwasher is running and so is my washing machine--clean clothes and clean dishes--YAY:)

Tomorrow, I am room mom at my daughter's school--we go to the library, so I am the library girl:) The Santa Ana's are here today--yucky!!! The air is so dry and makes everything so staticy. Anyone that has ever lived in Orange County knows what the Santa Ana's are---a very dry wind/heat.

I stopped by the GoodWill yesterday, and bought a new skirt, it is long and it is grey--it is a straight skirt--and I think it will go lovely with a few of my blouses, plus it has an elastic waist--which is good since I am going into my second trimester--YAY!!!!! I can tell I have a bump--but no one else can.

I am going to be makeing a pumpkin pie one day this week---my family just loves pumpkin pie, especially with a dollop of whip cream.

I had read once in a magazine, about women that are newly married and don't know how to cook really well---to saute some celery and onion in a pan, and it will make your house smell like you are a great cook, and your husband will be so happy when he comes home to a wonderfully smelling house, even if you can only manage to cook a grilled cheese...LOL:) I always think about that article, around the holidays, especially when I am making stuffing and cooking celery and onion..LOL--well I am going to go for now---You all have a Wonderful Thursday:) xoxoxox

My little Kitty Cat:)

My daughter asked if I would draw whiskers on her cheeks so she could be a kitty cat..LOL. I used my black eyeliner and drew whiskers:)

Stuffed Mushrooms

The Farmers Market had a sale on mushrooms--so I bought a bunch, my family loves mushrooms. So for tonight as an appetizer before dinner I made these stuffed mushrooms--just before Kevin comes home, I will pop them in the oven and top with some more cheese. They go fast. They are always a favorite at my parties too.

Simple Stuffed Mushrooms Recipe:
Pop off stems and grind in food processer, I have a mini one so it is perfect.
Then add two green onions in processer and grind up those.
Melt about 2 tablespoons of butter in a pan and saute ground up mushroom and onion--add a few dashes of Worshtershire sauce, break up a piece off bread into it and add some chedder cheese, when it is all melted and heated through, then just stuff the buttons. When ready for the oven, drizzle some butter over the mushrooms and sprinkle some more cheese. Bake at 350 for about 20 minutes, then under the broiler for a minute--YUMMY!!!!!!

Banana Bread

What do you do when you have bananas that are getting too ripe? Well, if you are like me, you make banana bread:) I made this loaf of Banana Bread this morning, and boy, oh boy did my house smell good---yummy. The recipe I use for Banana Bread is Betty Crockers. Want a piece?

My Fruit Tree--YAY

Look at this!!! I had no idea what kind of tree I had in my backyard. So I posted it on the Prairie Homemaker Forum, and TA-DA---Some one knew--it is a pommagranite tree--can you believe it?? There are so many of these fruits on the tree.

Wheat Sheeths

I bought this bundle of wheat at Henry's Farmer's Market yesterday for .99 cents. I put them in a vase and put them on my table---doesn't it just say FALL IS HERE...LOL:)

Cupcakes--Spooky:)

These are the cupcakes I made for Halloween. They are Chocolate cupcakes, with white frosting made orange with food coloring, topped with black and orange M&M's and black spiders:)

Dentist, Ghosts, TP Squares

Today is the day, this afternoon I have to take my daughter for a filling--OUCH!!! I was hoping my husband could get off early to go with me, I know there are going to be tears, but her tooth really needs to get fixed. I feel terrible, I was always so good at brushing her teeth and making sure they were clean.

It is really chilly today. It is quiet here right now, with both children at school and Kevin at work. I made my rice already for tonight--I am going to make fried rice so I need the steamed rice to be chilled for that tonight. My Grandma gave me a package of Orange chicken she had--she didn't want it, which is good for me--my kids love orange chicken:) Hopefully Alexis will be able to eat after the dentist.

I bought some Blow-pops to make ghosts with. I take tissue and and twist tie it around the sucker and with a marker I make little ghost faces--those are just one of the things I hand out for Trick or Treat. I also make goody bags to hand out.

I just love Holidays.

I measured my tummy with Toilet paper this morning, I am almost 8 squares..LOL. All my clothes fit just fine still. With Alexis I was showing by 3 months--so I am almost at the 3 month mark, so I am waiting to pop out..LOL.

Well, that is all for now. You all have a Wonderful Wednesday!!!! xoxoxox

Talented Tuesday

Do you ever start a post, and have no idea what to title your post? I do that almost everyday..LOL. I could title each post of the day of the week---but then I thought that sounds just too plain. So I titled my post Talented Tuesday...LOL. Do you have a talent? I have always wanted to learn to play the piano, but never have yet. I say yet, because I will one day--I am not sure when but I will. I think at the present moment my talent is cooking--I can honestly say, I am a great cook. My worst talent, if you haven't already guessed is my spelling..LOL--where is the spell check when you need it?

On my site meter, I see many people from all over the country stop and read:) So if you want to play, tell me what your talent is.

I am room mom today, so I will be gone for a short while.

Dinner tonight:

Spaghetti and meatballs
Garlic bread
Salad

You all have a Nice Tuesday xoxoxox

Vanilla, Placemats and Old Signs

I had mentioned in a previous post that my husband had bought me a bottle of Giorgio, which I love, I also love the perfume Obsession--but my absolute favorite perfume I love to use is Warm Vanilla Sugar--I use the body soap, lotion and then spray--I layer the scent so it lingers all day--when my husband comes home, he always says, how nice I smell..LOL:) I just the love the smell of Vanilla--I also light vanilla candles in my home--there is just something about that scent, that I just love. I had ran out of my Vanilla products, so I ran to Walmart to pick some more up--yes, Walmart--it sells them for such a great price. As I was there I found these placemats pictured below---> A pack of 2 for .75 cents---I just bought 4, they are so cute--and I just love decorating with a country flair. Here is a picture of a sign that is above the entrance to my kitchen--*PUMPKIN PETE'S* I had this sign, but thought I would share a picture of it--it fits nicely with the Fall and Halloween theme, plus it is a bit of country too--that sign will stay up all year.
Tonight's Dinner will be:
Baked Chicken
Mashed Potatoes----> remember I bought a bag of potatoes at the Farmers Market and got one free--YAY!!
Steamed Broccoli
Salad

Dinner will be served in my dining room, I set my table up nicely every night, with napkins, nice plates and salad dishes, etc...Do you think my family will notice the new placemats?? We shall see--I know my Daughter will, she notices everything:)

It is a cool Fall day here in San Clemente, I love it. I am wearing a black skirt with a cream kind of colored cotton top--I don't know how to explain the color, but it matches my skirt...LOL.

Well, that is all for now--You all have a Nice Monday xoxox

Whew

Happy Sunday!!!! I know a lot of people don't blog on Sundays, but I actually find Sunday's a day that I can actually sit down for a minute and write:) I think God is okay with that:)

Thursday, I took my Grandma shopping, we went to the Farmer's Market, and I ended spending 80.00 dollars. I bought so many different kinds of veggies. I also bought three pumpkins--yay:) I love brussel sprouts, especially when you cook them until they are really crispy--yummy--I call my recipe Burnt Brussel Sprouts. Later that day, when my children were home from school, my sister picked up my daughter for a play date with her daughter--the girls have so much fun together:) Dinner was, Teryaki chicken, steamed rice, shitake mushrooms, and a salad with all the fixings.

On Thursday evening Alexis had complained about her back tooth hurting---so Friday morning we went to the dentist--I had to go to her school, and explain that I wasn't going to be able to help out, because we had to go to the dentist. Her teacher said, don't worry, we will be fine:)
Alexis did very well at the dentists--I was very proud of her. My girlfriend also stopped by after dinner, and gave Kevin a trim.( I trim my hair myself) Friday dinner was Italian sausage on french bread with salad. Easy dinner for what seemed like a very long day.

Saturday, I had to go pick up a gift for a birthday party that Alexis was invited to. She had so much fun at the party, especially when Tinkerbell showed up. I did quite a bit of household chores, yesterday too. Dinner was homemade chicken enchiladas, refried beans and salad--yummy!!! I made a huge batch so I am going to freeze the rest for another time.

So much more went on last week, but I can't remember it all..lol--Pregnant Mommy Brain--but I do know, when I went to bed each night, I slept good.

Tonights dinner is going to be Pork strips, Burnt Brussel Sprouts, Twice Baked Potatoes, and of course a salad. I got two bags of potatoes at the Farmer's market, buy one get one free.

Kevin, was short handed last week, so he had to go to work and pick up the slack today, so it isn't so hectic Monday. I have laundry going----I just love the smell of the clean clothes. I am also going to make cupcakes, chocolate with white frosting that I am going to add orange food coloring too. I have really cute cupcake liners with pumpkins and ghosts on them, then I am going to sprinkle some orange and black M&M's on them and put a black spider on each---SPOOKY..LOL.

Another thing I like to do on the computer besides my blog is to go to the Prairie Homemaker website--I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that forum!!!!

Well, I have to get the clothes out the dryer, and put the next load in:)

You all have a very Blessed and Peaceful Sunday xoxoxox

Short Post

This is just a short post, to write that I am very, very busy today. I won't be able to post a more detailed post until later this evening. I wasn't even able to post yesterday, so I have a lot to write about:) I just love being busy as a wife and mother!!! You all have a very wonderful Thursday xoxox

Tuesday's Ramble

Happy Tuesday. Today is my day at school as room mom:) The news said rain, I don't see it happening though--it's clear and sunny outside, I would say somewhere in the 70's--Oh how I love the rain. I don't really know why, but I have always loved the rain, and in Georgia, it was always raining, so I was happy..LOL. Last night at about 7:00 I was finished with all my work---After Alexis was bathed, I was tired---I usually have so much energy, but the baby is wearing me out---YAY---I am so happy to be pregnant..:) I was talking to some mom's at my daughter's school and we were talking about having more children, and not one of them sounded happy about it---they made comments like better you then me, or I am so glad there are women like you, because I could never do what you do. Some of them couldn't believe I volunteered so much time to my children's school---I don't know--I love my kids so much, and want to be near them and enjoy watching them grow and learn/experience new things. Don't get me wrong, there are moments when Tony teases Alexis (vice-versa), and they get some timeouts, or with Tony he gets things taken away, my kids are no where near perfect, but they are kids, they are good kids, and they are my kids:) ....and I can't wait to have more.

I took some pork out of the freezer, I think I will make some steamed rice and some sort of vegggie--not sure yet, nothing has popped out to me..LOL.

Okay, I will be 10 weeks in a couple days, and I am not sure if I gained or lost anything--I do not believe in weighing myself---when the doctor's weigh me, I tell them to keep it to them self--if it is nothing to worry about, I don't want to know. Too many women, worry so much about there weight--I think caring for your appearance is wonderful--I sure do--I take care of myself, I am 5 feet--and I know my weight fluctuates from 97 to 115--I am a petite girl..LOL....If I feel good about the way I look in the mirror, then who cares how much I weigh..LOL. I eat everything in moderation--I am not a red meat eater--I am more of a veggie/fish gal--I love salads with a good dressing. I don't drink sodas--I drink lots of water with lemon:) Okay, boy did I just ramble..LOL.

I really need to start crocheting again, if I am going to finish the afghan for Kevin done by Christmas--it really is coming out beautiful too.

Here is a thought:

Favorite Homemaking activity: Mine is cooking
Least Favorite Homemaking activity: Dishes---Blah..LOL...I feel like I am always doing dishes--I do them, I don't let them sit, but I have to say it is my least favorite homemakeing activity to do:)
You all have a very blessed and wonderful Tuesday xoxo

Mondays to do's

I just heard *Loves Abiding Joy* is coming out in theatres. Wow, I sure did not expect that. I have not been to the movies in so very long, I may just have to wait for this to come out on video--I am not real good at sitting for very long at the movies, or anywhere for that matter..LOL.

Monday--YAY!!! I adore Mondays:) I woke up at 5:30 to start my day---I am showered and dressed, I used the perfume my husband bought me for my birthday--he bought me Giorgio. My hair is down with a clip holding it out of my face, I have a grey skirt and pink top on---I feel fallish today. Is Fallish a word? I took chicken out of the freezer and I am going to make chicken and dumplings for dinner---I use the Betty Crocker recipe for the dumplings--I double the recipe because my family loves them:) I will do some laundry, and make sure the kids clothes are all ready for school. Oh, I almost forgot, today is student growth day, whatever that is..LOL--well, anyway, all I know is it means no school today, so my children are home today, yay!!!!! I bought a bunch of apples the other day, and I am tempted to make an apple pie--we shall see. I have to clean the kids bathroom today, it is in need of some attention. My big shopping day will be Thursday, I am taking my Grandma shopping that day, so I will be stopping at the Farmer's Market and stocking up there--I love that store. Well, I need to throw a load in the washer, and tidy up the kitchen from breakfast, will write more today if time allows, but until then you all have a Wonderful Monday xoxo

Just a thought

This is just me, writing about something that just crossed my mind, take it or leave it. I was reading the news, and came across a celebrity that found out she was pregnant, and then decided to get married. What is up with that. What happened to getting married first, and then having children???? Okay, I am trying not to be judgemental, but I think some people just have things backwards. Women having children with their *boyfriends*??!!??--oh well, that is just a thought I had---okay I am done.

Friday's Chat

Today I am going to go work in the library at my daughter's school, when her class goes to check out books--it is from 11:20 to 1:00. This should be interesting..LOL. I am so glad today is Friday, I so look forward to the weekend when my family is home. It makes me so sad when I hear moms say they can't wait for school to start so the kids will be out of their hair----how can they say things like that?? I love my family and always want them near, that is why I participate so much in their schools:) I shut my cell phone off when I moved back to California, because the carrier was based in Atlanta and it only worked in Georgia--so Kevin brought me home a nextel, so he can talk to me through out the day, or if I need help and I am away from home, I can beep him..LOL--it makes me feel secure knowing that. I don't need an actual cell phone, in fact it really bugs me, when I am out with someone and they are constantly taking calls--geesh--what can't wait til they get home..LOL--oh well, I guess I am just too old fashioned:)

As for dinner, I am going to take out some ground beef--Tacos come to mind, and it is a family favorite:) I went to the store last night, and I bought a whole bunch of fruit and some skim milk--I didn't want to wait until next week, I need a lot of healthy food for making a baby:) I also cheated (shhhhh) I bought some bagels instead of making them.....This is my reasoning, Next Thursday, I am taking my Grandmother shopping, and I want to bring her some fresh homemade bagels, and if I make them now, they won't be fresh, makes sense?? LOL. I also bought perrier water, oh I love that water. I don't drink sodas, ever. I think the last time I had a soda was about 13 years ago--now my husband loves Coke---he drinks a lot of it, I try and deter my children from drinking it though, the carbination is not good for there growing bones.

As for the rest of the day, I plan on just keeping on schedule---a load of laundry, tiding up here and there, etc....Have a wonderful FUN FRIDAY xoxoxox

Thursday, September 28, 2006

OOPS:)

In an earlier post I stated I was almost 10 weeks pregnant, in actuality I am almost 9 weeks(Saturday)---I guess I got a little ahead of myself..LOL---Oh well.

On my list of things to-do, I did a load of laundry, I made my fudge, I try and vacuum everyday, so I will do that shortly--there is nothing like a freshly vacuumed carpet. I had put some pumpkin spice potpourri in the guest bathroom and oooohhh, it stills smells so lovely..LOL. My big shopping trip will be next Thursday, so I am making my lists and clipping coupons, I will go to the farmer's market for all my fruits and veggies, oh how I love to shop at that store and stock up on everything--it makes for a very happy kitchen..LOL. I took out a seven bone roast for tonight's dinner, I will also prepare mashed potaoes and gravy a veggie and a nice salad.

On Tuesday, I finished reading to Alexis the Old Testament out of her children's bible, so we started the New Testament last night, oh boy is she is excited to hear all about Jesus--after I finished reading a few chapters, she asked me to read a little more, so I did. She can't wait for me to read more tonight--and boy, she will not let me forget ..LOL. I have to say, the children's bible is very interesting for me also, sometimes, it explains things so much easier for me to understand also.

The weather here is very nice, there is a slight chill in the air at times, and the feel of fall is in the air. Have I mentioned I love fall?? I think I have, LOL.

Tony, my 14 year old son asked me yesterday if we could have Friday fun days. He is not one to say or ask for things like that, but he explained that he thinks it would be nice to go out to eat at a restaurant on Fridays, Kevin and I have no problem with that idea at all. I am very frugal and try and make a dollar stretch as far as possible, but I think going out to dinner on Fridays could be worked out, it actually sounds nice--even though I love to cook--I need to take my children's feelings into consideration, don't ya think? Plus it is nice to have someone else cook for you once in awhile:)

After Alexis was asleep and all was quiet in the house, I turned on the TV and Little house on the Prairie was on, it was the episode about when Charles takes in two children that lost their parents, I am sure you have seen the episode--well anyway, it is a nice episode, but I sure wish Michael Landon had followed the books a little more closely, kwim?

Well, That is all for now---until next time, you all have a Thoughtful Thursday xoxoxox

Another Busy One

I have so much I want to write about, but today was a busy day. My Grandmother had her doctor appointment today, so off we went and then to the farmers market--it was a nice day. Dinner is already done and the kitchen is clean. Kevin went to the store to pick up some things---don't feel bad for him--HE LOVES TO SHOP..LOL---I always do the big shopping, but occasionaly he just likes to go when we need a few things:) He is a very good husband. Tomorrow is Thursdy, which is going to be a pretty easy day for me, I don't have any errands to run, so I am going to do some laundry, bake some bread and make some bagels. Oh yes, I almost forgot I am going to make my super easy fudge, that doesn't last too long in my house..LOL--My son loves it. Well, I am going to go for now, but I will be back tomorrow with a longer, more interesting post--but as for now, this was a day in the life of me

You all have a Happy Wednesday xoxox

P.S. Tomorrow I am also going to take some time and visit the women's blogs that have left such nice comments on mine--you all have awesome blogs that I love to read:)))

Busy, Busy, Busy

Today I am room mom at my daughter's school. I will be doing that on Tuesday's and Friday's--YAY:) Then, next week I will be joining the PTA. I am excited to get really involved in my daughter's school and help. I am almost 10 weeks pregnant and I can feel a little bump on my tummy. I wonder, boy or girl?? I wonder what God has chosen, he has already given me a boy and a girl, so I wonder, hmmmm...

The house is coming along nicely. I haven't hung any pictures up yet, not sure how I want to do that. I am decorating for fall and halloween. Oh how I love fall. Well I have to get going, I have some things I have to do before I go to Alexis's school.

You all have a good day xoxoxo

Potato Salad

This is my Potato Salad-->

I was craving potato salad, or should I say the baby was craving potato salad..LOL. So I made a nice batch of it. I have to say, it tastes wonderful:)
Julieann's Potato Salad Recipe:
5 potatoes, boiled, peeled and cubed
4 hard boiled eggs, chop up 3 leaving one whole for the top to decorate(slice it in circles and place on the top of the finished dish)
2 or 3 stalks of celery diced, including the leaves
half of an onion diced small, depending how much onion you like
salt and pepper to taste
Mayonaise--real mayonaise--never miracle whip (icky..LOL) use as much as you like to moisten it--I like it a bit on the creamy side.
Paprika to sprinkle over the top

I don't think I need to go into detail on how to make it from here, I just wanted to post how simple mine was and what little ingredients I use, and still it is the best potao salad ever!!!!!

Humming Bird Feeder

Yes--I put my hummingbird feeder up. I have seen so many hummingbirds since I have been here. Now, lets see if I can be quick enough to get a picture of a hummingbird at my feeder..LOL. As you can see I did not add red food coloring to mine, as I know alot of people do. I have read the red dye may cause tumors in there little bodies. So just to be safe, I do not add it. It doesn't seem to deter them from feeding, I think there is enough red on the feeder to attract them. I think every household should have a hummingbird feeder, it kind of makes the home complete...LOL--so lets all hang up a feeder for our cute little hummingbirds:) Have a happy Thursday xoxo

Latch Hook

This is a latch Hook, that I did for my daughters room. I am rather proud of it, and Alexis loves it:)

I try, I really do:)

I love to do crafts, I really do!!! I love to sew, crochet, latch hook, do all sorts of things. Am I any good at it..LOL--somethings I do really well, like my daughters latch hook and my afghan. I made this wreath with a garland of fall leaves I had--it looks better in real life, I promise. This is the fireplace in my living room. I am trying to add touches of fall and halloween, with out it looking cluttered or over bearing.

More pictures---Maybe..LOL

Yay!!!! It worked--these are pictures of the front of my home:) This is the gate--> This is the front of the house--->
This is part of my yard--->
This is the front door--->

Blogger is not playing nice with me today:( I took pictures of my home and blogger will not let me add them here---I will try again tomorrow. *Updated---I tried one last time and it worked---so these are some of the pics I took, I hope you enjoy..LOL--Blogger sure was being difficult for me today, sorry for the delay on the pictures:)

Picture of My Bread

This is a picture of the bread I made yesterday. It is the classic white bread recipe out of my Betty Crocker cookbook:) The house smelled amazing while it was baking:)

Short but sweet:)

I am not sure if I mentioned, earlier in the week, my daughter was sick---I am sure she got sick from school--well, she is all better now, but guess who got it now? Yep--ME!!! I don't know if I have mentioned, I really don't like feeling icky--so I try and pretend I am not..LOL. Does it work, sometimes. My father is coming to visit tomorrow to see us and our new home, I know it will be a short visit, but I wanted to make a few appetizers, and have coffee and juice--I am going to make a chocolate cake today too--I need to pick up my son from school in about an hour, so I am using this time to post this short post:) The house is nice and clean, I am just going to do a few things here and there to make it look even nicer for my Dad, when he visits. I am trying to think of an easy dinner to make, so I am thinking along the lines of meatloaf--what do you think? I am not a meat eater, but my family loves meat, so I have some sort of meat with each dinner---so I think meatloaf is it. It is kind of a cool day today--I am not sure if it is really cool, or is it because I am feeling under the weather? oh well, I am glad it is Friday, and I have the whole weekend with my family and not having them in school or work--YAY!

You all have a blessed Friday xoxoxox

What's For Dinner?

That is a question, that is asked daily. What's for dinner? Yes, what is for dinner? LOL. Sometimes I lay in bed the night before, and I think what I have made the last couple days, what I haven't made lately--and I start to prepare in my mind the menu for the next day. Granted, I do have a somewhat already planned menu, from shopping--but it isn't detailed. I bought some really nice thick pork tenderloins--now, I know I will make a pork dinner, but the detail of that dinner, has not been made. Yesterday, I made a big pot of spaghetti and meatballs---yummy. I will freeze the left over sauce, and use it for another dish, like lasagna. Also, along with my dinners, a salad is always served--it is a given. I have to say I make great salads--my husband sometimes jokes and says he married me for my salads..LOL. I do put a lot of love in my salads, as a matter a fact, I take care in all my dishes I prepare--I never just throw something together. Would you like to come home from working hard all day and have a dinner that I just threw together?? I think my family deserves a little more then that. I love to cook, and I love to bake--it is one of my favorite all time things to do--and it is very high on my list of things I love to do as a wife and mother:) Now, the dishes are another post all together. I do keep a very clean kitchen, and make sure it is clean for the next day--but I do not enjoy washing dishes..LOL. I don't mind any other housework, but dishes is on the bottom of my list.

Speaking of food, even though I love to cook and bake, I am not a big eater at all. Sometimes, I would get a hunger paing, and think to myself, oh myI have forgotten to eat-----so anyway, now that I am pregnant, I am making sure I eat properly---I just had a veggie wrap, that I made myself, and it was sooooooo good!!

As my life goes on day by day, and i see my children growing up--and another one on the way, I just think to myself, is there anything better then being a women--I wouldn't change a thing. There is nothing I would rather be doing then being a wife and mother---Thank you God!!!

You all have a safe and happy Thurday--Happy cooking everyone xoxox

The Holiday are Coming!!!

Can you believe it??? I am so excited, I absolutely love this time year! You can all have the summer time---I want fall..LOL. I was just glancing over some of my cookbooks, and I am planning what I will be baking as soon as I can get started. Cookies, breads, cakes..oh the list is endless. Also all the winter time meals, Parmesean pumpkin soup, chilli, chicken and dumplings. I also make this close to Halloween, mini mask pizzas--english muffins for the crust, sauce--and then I make funny faces for the kids, they can help decorate too ---pepparoni for the eyes, olives for the nose, green peppers for the mouth. Yes, I do celeberate Halloween, I decorate and take my children trick or treating. I don't think of it is an evil holiday, but as a fun time for the kids to play dress up and have some candy:) It is all innocent in my home, and I think I get more excited for halloween then my kids do...LOL.
My dining room table, I wrapped some fall leave garland around my basket napkin holder, and a few orange and black candles on the table also. In the guest bathroom, I put pumpkin spice potpourri in a little ceramic dish--it looks so nice, and smells so good. I don't decorate with monsters and death, but with cute pumkins and such, kwim?

On another note, my home is almost completely done--YES, I said ALMOST DONE!!!!! I just have a few boxes with odds and ends in the garage that I have to go through, but other then that, I am done!!! YAY, I love my new home--yes, I miss my home in Georgia--and I get a little tinge of sadness when I think of it--but I then just look around me now, and know that my Husband worked hard to do this, and that God has a very special reason for all this----so I am very greatfull for all that I have, my family, my friends, the health of my loved ones--and a little precious gift in my tummy---what more could I want??? Thank you God:)

You all have an absolutely wonderful day xoxox

Getting Settled

Happy Sunday everyone!!! Well, things are coming together, the house is looking really good--I am unpacking continuously, I can not wait till everything is in its place. When all is done, I will take pictures:) I really love my kithcen, it is so nice and spacious--I even have an island, yay!!!! I haven't really had time to do any kind of baking--but I have been faithfully making homecooked meals with lots of love. I have done all my shopping for the month, and stocked up on everything I couldn't bring with me on the move, so I have a happy kitchen now..LOL.

Alexis, told me yesterday her throat hurt--she ended up going to bed super early last night, and she has been sleeping on and off all day, poor baby:(

I am adjusting to school starting back up---I have to leave and pick up four times a day..busy, busy, busy!!!

The weather here is lovely--it is cool in the morning and and in the evening and warms ups during the day.

I am so absulutely ecstatic the way things are turning out--especially knowing I have a little life growing inside me--what a special feeling:)

You all have a glorious day xoxoxox

Wednesday's Chatter

The kids all started school this week--so my schedule is going to be kind of busy, picking up and dropping off--since they both start at different times and finish at different times. I really, really want to homeschool, I just am not sure I would be able to teach them everything they need to know. I can not wait to hear how there first day of school went. They both seemed so brave, Tony starting Highschool and Alexis starting Kindergarten. I am going to use this time to unpack some more, I still have so much to do to get this home in order. After I pick the children up--I wil start dinner, and see if I can get more unpacked after that--I was so busy yesterday, I fell asleep at 7:30..LOL. I guess being older and pregnant takes a lot more out of you then it did when I was younger--but, I am so happy to be pregnant--I am going to enjoy every moment of this time!!!!

It is rather warm here in California, so I have been turning the AC on.

Dinner Tonight:
Pork tenders w/ onions
Mashed potatoes
Salad with all the fixings

You all have a very wonderful and blessed Wednesday!!!! xoxox

Happy Thursday!!!

Good Morning!! It is a wet morning here in Georgia. As much as I love the rain, I hope it does not rain on Sunday, that is the day we get the moving truck--so we shall see. Just think this time next week, I will be in my new home in California, I still can not believe it--it is so surreal to me. I never thought, that I would be going back. It is amazing how things can change in a blink of an eye. I know my Grandma will be happy I am there, I will be able to take her shopping to all the store she wants to go too. We always had a nice time doing that, and she loved to go to Costco and try all the samples..LOL. I am also wondering what things we will see as we drive across country. It was always very interesting to drive through the states. I loved staying overnight in the little towns, and eating at the Mom and Pop diners. I am going to make sure I have my camera with me, so I can take pictures of my adventure.
I have completely packed up my daughter's room, and I have also packed up my room. I really need to start on my son's room---his should not be too hard, he is 14 so he doesn't have many toys anymore.
Also, I already started my kitchen, the things that I can do with out for awhile. You do not realize how much stuff you really have until you have to pack it..LOL.

This morning, I turned on the Walton's--I love watching the earlier episodes of the Walton's when Olivia is still there and John Boy is the real John Boy..LOL. The epsisode was about Thanksgiving, and they were gathering walnuts and pumpkins, oh I can't wait to start getting ready for fall, what a lovely season.

When I Get back to Cali, I am going to start my Garden. I tried here in Georgia, but the bugs just love me, especially the bees and wasps they have chased me frantically back into my home many times. It is always a game for me to get the mail--my neighbors must think I am crazy, how I run to and from the mailbox..LOL. Plus the soil here in Georgia is funny--I am not used to it.

I am going to pack my herbs and spices today---I used my dehydrater to dry my herbs and they came out very nice, so I know they will last awhile.

You all have a blessed Thursday xoxo

Bananas, California and over 30 Boxes

Tomorrow is trash day, so I have to get everything out of my fridge that I need to throw out. I have bananas frozen in the freezer that I was going to use to make banana bread, but since I will be leaving in about a week, I will not be able to do it. I also have homemade chicken stock, that I have to get rid of--Oh well, I can't wait for this to be all over, so I can get back to normal, with my daily life as a wife and mother.
Condiments--I am thinking of getting a cooler so I can keep my condiments--I have a lot. I will think about that one.
I am on box 32---so many more to go. I washed all my bathroom rugs, so they will be nice and clean for our new home.
I was thinking of making hot wings tonight for dinner, as my children love them. I am trying to use everything I have and not buying anything else. I will give what is left in my freezer to my SIL--she doesn't cook that much, so giving her my bananas and stock would be a waste--she would just laugh at that--but I am sure she can use the meat, hopefully.
Kevin is as happy as can be at his job in California, I can just hear him smiling as he talks to me on the phone. That is good, I am glad he is happy. I am really going to miss it here, but I am sure God has a plan for all this--I guess I am just ment to live in California..LOL---everytime, I try and leave, I am going right back. My son is very excited to be able to surf again, and my daughter is very excited to see her cousin who is of similar age to her. It will be nice to be able to see my Grandma on a daily bases, and to have my friends come over for coffee--the women I met here in Georgia, all work outside the home, so it will be nice to have some SAHM's once again. Okay that is all for now, you all have a wonderful Wednesday xoxo

Over Easy

Eggs--I love eggs. Over easy, over medium, over hard, poached, sunny side up, basted, deviled, egg whites, scrambled..etc--there are just so many ways to cook them. If I am running low on eggs, I feel that my kitchen is just not right----I usually buy the big carton of eggs that has 2 and half dozen eggs in them. Before you buy them, always check for cracks. I also hard boil a bunch, for a qucik snack for the kids, or to top on my salads. Also, nothing fancys up a table more then having a dish of deviled eggs on it. Whenever I am in the mood to make deviled eggs and put them on the Table, Kevin will always say, "Wow, what's the occasion?" I just say, "because I love my family" Okay, I do show my love in a lot of different ways, not just making a dish of deviled eggs--that is kind of funny..LOL.

My Simple Deviled Egg Recipe:

Hard boiled eggs
Real Mayonaise---Never Miracle Whip
Salt and pepper to taste
Paprika to sprinkle over the top

That is all I do----then after I fill the eggs with the filling ( I think we all know the basics of deviled egg making, so I don't think I have to explain the boiling process, the cutting in half taking out the yolk and creaming it together with the mayo, blah, blah, blah) I sprinkle paprika over them to make them pretty. I know a lot of people add mustard, and all sorts of ingredients--I just keep mine very simple. Sometimes, I will stick an olive in the center--Kevin's family showed me that little tip--it must be a Southern thing though:)

I took out some ground beef for dinner, I will make some patties and make a veggie---my kids aren't really big eaters, and with Kevin still in California, I can't go over board on my dinners with kevin away, or there will be too much waste, and I try not to waste food.

It rained through the night, so it is all wet outside--I think blue is a nice color dress to wear on a semi-rainy day---I have my hair clipped back with some bobby pins, it is still down, but pulled back, so it won't get in my way while I am packing--ahhhh, yes, I said the P word...LOL...I am still packing, I bet you thought I wasn't going to mention that--well, I will give a box count a little later---I have packed so many, I have to actually re count them.

You all have a wonderful, safe and happy Tuesday!!! xoxox

Crocheting, Boxes and Trader Joes

Crocheting, I love to crochet. This is what I have been currently working on--I took a picture to share before I pack it away for the move. It is going to be an afghan for Kevin for winter. I thought the white would look very nice against my couches which are a dark color.

Now, no post would not be complete without me talking about my packing..LOL. Her are some of the boxes I have packed. I have a total of 20 boxes packed so far. I packed my beloved Bread Machine--and my sewing machine will soon follow. It is funny, after the move and I start unpacking everything, it is like Christmas..LOL.

Okay, onto other things. Kevin arrived safely in California this afternoon. It seems wierd that I am here in Georgia and he is back in California. One thing I am looking forward to in California is shopping at Trader Joes. I love that store. Plus there are many more Farmers Markets there then I was able to find here. I am not quite sure what i am going to cook for dinner, I have been working hard packing today, so I think I may make grilled cheese sandwiches and chicken noodle soup--my kids love those kind of dinners:)

Well, back to packing!!

You all have a Happy Sunday xoxox

Thrilled

Oh my!!! I am so thrilled. The house, I had mentioned previously fell through---BUT--we found an even better one---Oh I am so excited. Kevin is flying out tomorrow to sign the papers. I sure am going to miss my home here, but I am very happy that I will have something lovely to go to when we arrive. I will take pictures and share them here. I will get there just in time to join you all in fall decorating, yay!!!!

I am still packing, I have not started the kitchen yet--if you look at my post titled Kitchen, there is a picture of my kitchen, I did take all my ceramic cows down and knic knacs and packed them away. This is a very overwhelming project, but I think to myself, if this is the worse thing I can complain about, I think I am okay..LOL--God is Good!!!

Today, I am wearing a light beige top, that is very feminine with a darker brown skirt. My daughter chose a denim skirt with a grey shirt---she is a cutie patootie:)

Dinner tonight will be a seven bone roast, mashed potatoes, green beans, and a salad with all the fixings:) I will also make a homemade gravy from the drippings from the roast--yummy!!!

The weather here in Georgia, is very nice. I do hope for one last Thunder storm before I leave, I sure am going to miss the rain--but one thing I am not going to miss are those pesky mosquitos--yucky. Yesterday there was a praying Mantis on my window, I love those bugs--I took a picture of it, as you can see:)

You all have a great Saturday xoxo

So Much To Do!!

It will all be over soon. ::::Whew::::

I ran out of packing tape, so I went to the store and bought some more, BIG ROLLS this time...LOL. I think I am going to do my kitchen last, I think it is going to be my biggest job, but, I still need a lot of stuff out, to be able to feed my family for the next week--I don't do fast food--yucky. I made a homemade pizza the other day, the kids really enjoyed it, so I think I may make another today.

It is a warm day here in Georgia, a beautiful day actually. I am wearing a black skirt, with a black blouse with pink little flowers all over it---my daughter is wearing a pink dress, she looks adorable. And, of course I am wearing my ever faithful apron, especially when I cleaned the oven this morning---it looks so nice and clean.

I am going to try and pack as much if not more then I did yesterday----I am doing my best to stay organized. Moving is not easy, especially across country. I can not wait until I am done and I can stop talking about it..LOL---

You all have a wonderful Thursday, and I will post more a little later:)

Box Count:

I have packed 7 boxes so far today, yay...LOL. My poor little house doesn't know what hit her, one day she is neat and tidy and now she is in complete disaray.

On another note, I don't know if I have mentioned this yet, but my husband has asked me to only use Tide on his clothes---Oh my, what happiness I had, when I found the new Tide products---the Simple Pleasures--oh they smell lovely. I bought the one in the purple bottle with matching Downy fabric softner----when my homemade fabreeze runs out, I am definately making some with the Lavendar and Vanilla scent by Tide/Downy. It will be in my new home though when I do that. New home, new scent..LOL.

Take a few tablespoons of your favorite liquid fabric softner and put into a spray bottle, add water until filled. I spray it everywhere, and my home smells lovely:)

On to my next box:)

Cookbooks

I just packed my cookbooks. You never realize how many you have until you have to pack them. My favorite of them all is the Aunt Bee cookbook--oh what a fun cookbook to look at, and it has some really down home recipes.

I also have a cookbook my son had made when he was 7, it is absolutely precious--one recipe is for cookies, where I put them in the oven for 10 minutes at 200 degrees.. :)

I have to also add, that after everything is packed up, and we are about to leave, the absence of my cookbooks and being able to cook and bake is truly missed.

It is nice to move into a new place and organize and put everything in its proper place--everything so clean and fresh and new. I am excited to meet new people in my neighborhood, and see my old friends again. The one thing a few of my girlfriends said they had missed when I left California, was them coming over to my house, and always smelling something either cooking or baking--it is so nice to be missed..LOL.....I will update a little later on my famous Box count--until then, you all have a wonderful day:)

Countdown:)

Okay, so the countdown begins. I got my packing supplies today--and I have 2 weeks to pack up this house. For those of you that don't know--I am moving back to California. I am sad that I am leaving Georgia, and my home--I have been here just over a year and I absolutley adore this life here. This will be my 4th time moving across country, and hopefully my last. My husband keeps getting raises, but each time it means a move. Thankfully though, it is just back and forth from San Clemente California to Marietta Georgia. My children are very excited to go back, especially my oldest since he was born there and has so many friends. Plus my family is all there too. My dearest and closest friend is there and is helping with the things there that I can't do 2,400 miles away. I found a home, that is so lovely, so hopefully when Kevin flies out there this weekend, he can sign the papers.

So even though I have done this moving thing quite a few times, I am always open to tips on making the move smoother--any tips out there????

Last time when I moved the box count was 160--so I am hoping I can do better then that:)

Here I go:

Box Count so far: 1

Rain

I just absolutely love rainy days. We had a thunder storm over the weekend, and I took this picture Saturday morning--it was as dark as night---I loved it. I sure am going to miss these rainy days when we go back to California!!!

Dresses

Here are some of the Dresses you may catch me wearing:

They look a lot better on, but it is hard for me to take a picture of me in it and show the full length of the dress LOL----

Dresses--I just love dresses:) 99% of the time you will catch me in a dress. For my Birthday, Kevin wanted to know, what I wanted---I told him I wanted some new dresses. I just can not see spending an abundance amount of money at a restaurant or on flowers----I like things that will last--so he gave me some birthday money---now, I could go to an expensive store, and buy maybe two or three dresses, but anyone that knows me knows, I would never do that..LOL. So off to a thrift store I went----I had 350.00-----I ended up spending 92.00 and bought myself 6 dresses, 5 tops, 5 skirts--and 5 dresses for my daughter. I also bought, a book and some really neat things for the house.

Do you like pretty dresses? I just feel like such a girlie girl in them, so feminine-->Isn't that how women are suppossed to feel and look?

Ravioli Recipe

The recipe for my Ravioli's is just something I made up. I just took wonton wrappers*, you can find them in any grocery store, and I put a mound of stuffing in them --which can be anything you like-----usually ricotta, mozzerella and parmesean cheese, parsley, and don't forget the egg--plus whatever spices/herbs you would like to add--but this time I mixed ricotta and cheddar cheese----I layered them in a casserole dish, and between layers I put spaghetti sauce--on the last layer I topped it with sauce and then more cheddar cheese:)
(*Note---to glue the wontons together to keep the stuffing in, I just use water around the edges and they stick just fine, and look just like raviolis)

For the sauce you can use bought or homemade--whatever you like. In my sauce, I added ground beef, because my husband is a meat eater, and as long as my dinners have meat in them, he is happy:)
Here is a wonton ravioli recipe, I found on the net that is similar to mine, except, I put the meat in the sauce not the ravioli: It has more percise directions then I do..LOL:) Plus, this one is for eating it normal, like pasta--if you want to make the casserole, skip the boiling process and just put them in the casserole dish like I said earlier, they cook beautifully.

Wonton Ravioli
Try using wonton wrappers for a quick and easy ravioli(Serves 4)

Ingredients:Filling:8 ounces lean ground beef
1 cup ricotta cheese
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/4 cup parmesan cheese
1/4 cup mozzarella cheese
1/2 tsp dried oregano or 1 teaspoon fresh oregano,
chopped
1/2 teaspoon saltPepper to taste
1 pack wonton wrappers
1 egg plus 1 tablespoon water
whisked together
1 jar spaghetti or marinara sauce
Directions:
Prepare filling: Cook the ground beef in a medium skillet over medium high heat, until no longer pink. Drain and pat dry with paper towels; cool.
In a large mixing bowl, stir together ground beef, ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan, mozzarella cheese, oregano, salt and pepper.
Assemble ravioli: Lay wrappers on clean work surface. Place ¾ tsp of filling on one side of wrapper. Brush with egg wash. Fold opposite side over to cover filling to a create a triangle.
Press edges to remove air and seal edges. A cookie cutter may be using to cut ravioli into a moon shape.
Place ravioli on a baking tray lined with a tea towel sprinkled with flour or cornmeal.
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add ravioli and cook until al dente, about 3-4 minutes.
Drain and serve with warmed sauce.

Growing up in an Italian household, I was taught how to make homemade sauce very well--but I do cheat occasionally--->shhhhhh, don't tell my Grandma.

As for the Chocolate chip cookies I use the recipe in my Betty Crocker Cookbook:

I was able to find the recipe on the net--YAY--here it is --->

OOPS-->forgotten food

I had mentioned in an earlier post about some food I had made, and promised pictures. Oops, I totally forgot---but here they are, better late then never, right? This is one of my salads that I make--Kevin's favorite--topped with homemade Ranch dressing. This is the recipe I use. It is so very simple, and so much better then any store bought Salad dressing.
Ranch Dressing:
1 1/2 C Mayonnaise
1/2 C Buttermilk
1 T Red Wine Vinegar
1 T Sugar
1 tsp Garlic powder
1 tsp Onion powder
1 T Dried Parsley
1/2 tsp Dill
1/2 tsp Salt (optional)
1/2 tsp Black pepper
Dash of Paprika
Whisk ingredients together, and refridgerate one hour before serving:)

These are my homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies

Baked Ravioli
For the baked ravioli, I used Cheddar cheese instead of Mozzerella--Kevin perfers Cheddar to any other cheese--and I have to say, the baked ravioli turned out very yummy. I used wonton wrappers to make the raviolis too:)

Happy Anniversary

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Today is mine and Kevin's Wedding Anniversary:) YAY. He is out of town until Friday, so there won't be much celebrating today. That is okay, we will be together this weekend, and plus my son will be home too. Maybe this month, will be my month to conceive--I sure hope so.

Tomorrow is trash day--which means I will also do my weekly wipe down of the refridgerator, and also make sure all trash is out of the home, and the can is put to the curb--the trash pick up comes pretty early in the morning, so I like to get it all ready the night before.

Tonights dinner will be fish and veggies and a nice salad, for Alexis and me. I am going to take a chicken out of the freezer, and thaw it. I will make chicken and dumplings for Friday--I will cook it tomorrow though, so we can have some chicken with our dinner. I also have some avacados that need to be used soon--We love avacados at our house. In California you can find avacados on any restaurant menu or at any market--but here in Georgia, I don't think I have ever seen avacado in a restaurant---I also find it funny how sweet tea is so very popular here, and in California, there is no such thing..LOL. When Kevin and I first married he had to teach this California girl how to make it----he says I make it perfect. I am so going to miss Georgia---it is so lovely here, I love the privacy I have, and all the trees all around me. I know God has a plan for all this, and it will be nice to be close to my Grandmother again--I know she needs help getting to the store because she can no longer drive, and my sister is not always the most reliable. Before I moved here last year, every Thursday I took her shopping, the day after the sale ads came out--we always had a wonderful time. She loved to go to Costco and taste all the samples.....

Yellow is such a happy color--and that is why I am wearing yellow today--a really pretty button down dress--it is a pale yellow and I feel so femine in it. The weather is nice too. The forecast says it will rain, but it hasn't yet--I just adore rainy days----you don't get too many rainy days in California, so I really appreciate them here in Georgia. You all have a Happy Wednesday xoxoxoxo

Happy Tuesday

As you can see, I am not the most creative with my titles...LOL. Today is Tuesday, which means my son will be back home in two days, I am so excited. I miss him so much. Kevin, is out of town again--I understand why he is upset with his job sending him out of town all the time, I know he misses his family.

Dinner tonight is spaghetti--my daughter loves spaghetti---it must be the Italian in her.

With my son on Vacation and Kevin out of town, laundry was rather easy--I did two loads and I am finished--I tried the new Tide Lavendar, and ohhh it smells so pretty. I am going to make my own febreeze with the fabric softner--I love it when my home smells pretty. Especially when the holidays start to approach us, and all the wonderful smells that come with it from baking and cooking. I just love holidays. I especially love the holidays here in Georgia. In California it just doesn't feel the same--I mean sometimes at Christmas time, it is 90 degrees out--that is just not right..LOL. Oh, how I will miss the seasons here in Georgia:(

On Thursday, I am going to make Cinnamon rolls---I saw Paula Dean making them on her show, and Kevin had remarked that he loves homemade Cinnimon rolls--so I shall make some for him, so when he returns he can have some with his coffee. Plus, I am sure my children will enjoy them too. Here is the recipe, I am going to use-->

Cinnamon Rolls

P.S. WOOHOOO--I figured out how to space my paragraphs..LOL--YAY!!!!

Monday, Monday, Monday

Playing around on my blog---I have come across a few blogs lately that are so precious. I do not like this format too much, I mean it is nice, and I am able to write my thoughts but I want it to look more girlie girl with pretty pictures and such. I am pretty good on the computer, but I just can not figure this blog out----It will not let me space my paragraphs--WHY???

  • Maybe these little circles will help--LOL
  • Kevin did not place in his competition this weekend, but that is okay, we had a lot of fun.
  • After the dinner, I excused myself to the restroom--well a lady that was sitting at our table used the bathroom, and then left ---she didn't wash her hands--ewwww. How can someone not wash there hands????
  • I went to the grocery store and bought some needed things, like detergent. I bought the new tide, lavendar with matching fabric softener---oh the bottles are so pretty
  • I am making another pot of homemade pea soup--yummy
  • The day has gone rather quickly, it is already 3:00.
  • I will putter around my beautiful home, and do some cleaning and organizing. The house is pretty clean, but the bedding needs to be washed, and the toilets need to be cleaned---how often do you all clean your toilets? Even if they look spotless, I still clean them. My Grandmother said, she has never seen toilets look so clean..LOL----I learned form the best:)
  • I really want to order some books, but I am not sure if I will even be here----
  • Did I mention, the children's Bible I bought, oh it is precious and it is so easy for my daughter to understand, she loves it and can't wait until I read it to her each day.
  • It is a beautiful day here in Georgia----the sun is out and the birds are singing--now if those huge flying bugs would just stay out of my way...LOL
  • You all have a wonderful day--->xoxoxoxoxo

Happy Saturday

It is a beautiful day here Georgia. Kevin is at his competition, I hope he wins. I am waiting for his call to see how did.

I have been looking online for houses in San Clemente, Ca----Oh my goodness, it is so expensive. When we lived there last year, our rent was 1,000--now I can not find anything for under 2,000---and the places are so small too. I would never be able to find a beuatiful home like the one I have here that we could afford-buy or rent:( I guess, I should mention Kevin wants to go back to California, I am so broken hearted about this decision, but I don't have a choice, so I have made peace with it, even though, I think I am entitled to a pout or two.

We have a special dinner to go to tonight at his company, and they will announce the winners from this morning--I hope he wins---the prize is money--woohooo! I have not decided what to wear yet---I know it will be a dress, but which one??? LOL.

Tony will be home on Thursday--I am so happy to have him back home. I know all his friends miss him too, and his little dog:)

Alexis, is such a good girl---a total girlie girl--just like her mom..LOL She has asked me to get her ears pierced---ummmmm---I don't think she realizes what it actually means. I think I will take her to see it done. I told her I really want her to wait until she is older to make such an important decision. We shall see:)

BUGS----I have never seen so many different kind of bugs in my life, since I have been in Georgia----such big flying things, especially at night, around the porch light--ewww.

I still have not figured out how to space my paragraphs on this blog--it is very frusterating--it looks so nice when I type it out, and then when I publish it, it looks different--ugh!

I will let you all know what happens tonight on Sunday---I am sooooooo hoping he wins:) You all have a great Saturday!!!! xoxox

Alexis Day

Today is Alexis day today. What is Alexis day, you ask? :::::Giggles::::: I make up days in my house, to celebrate each day. Alexis is my daughter, and since it is her day, she gets to pick out dinner----basically it is a day we do extra things, with in reason. She made her first cake today--it is in the oven right now, when it is done, I will post a picture of it. I will write her name on the frosting, for her day. I put up a little sign, that says Alexis Day. She enjoys it, and all day says, "it is my day". We also make up other days, like Jammy day, Dress up day, Tony Day, Daddy Day..etc--I am sure you get the idea.

Tomorrow is Trash day, so I emptied all the trash cans, and cleaned out the fridge, of leftovers----I am also going to tidy up Alexis's room--Tony's room is still spotless, since he is in Washington.

I am not pregnant this month, hmph!!! I know God has a plan, I just really want another baby, or two, or three. We shall see.

Have you ever watched the TV show, Wife Swap? Oh boy, that show is so inspiring..LOL--when I see how some of those women care for their homes, it makes me want to clean and cook even more----Some of those women are so filthy, ewwww----okay, I shouldn't judge, but they are filthy..LOL.

It is hot here in Georgia, I feel terrible, that Kevin has to work in this heat---but I am greatful, that I am able to stay home and care for our children and our home---there is nothing more then I would rather be doing---I can't call what I do a job, because to me it is not a job, it is a pleasure and it is my whole life!!!!

I took out some ground beef for tonights dinner, for Kevin-----I think I will make stuffed hamburgers for him. Since it is Alexis day, she wants fish, so I will make her some fish---she doesn't care for ground beef, but Kevin loves it----it really isn't a bother to make both, it is rather easy, if you know what you are doing. It really blows me away, when a woman doesn't know her way around the kitchen---I think they act like that for attention--I mean if you know how to read and have commen sense, I think anyone can cook......if more women would concentrate on home and family, and not on jobs out of the home, the world would be a better place. Okay that is all for now--will update soon:)
