Hamburger Pie

I made Hamburger Pie this week---the first layer is a pie crust. Then I cooked a small onion with ground beef, drained the grease and poured it on to the crust--

Pie Crust:

1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. of salt
1/3 cup plus one tbsp. shortening (I used butter)
2-3 tbsp. of cold water

While I was doing the above, I was also boiling potatoes---after they were done, I made mashed potatoes and spread it over the top of the hamburger
I covered it all with foil and baked through. I made sure the bottom crust was cooked and golden. I could see it though the glass. I put the temp at 375, for about 45 minutes--then I topped it with shredded cheese and let it cook another 15 minutes un covered. I always eye ball my food--so the times are not always exact but pretty close. All ovens are different so I am sure you know what I mean.

This is the pie all done--

I Am Excited.....

...I am off to get one of my Christmas presents....:::giggles::: Be back shortly to share it.

It is something small, but something I love:)

*UPDATE---I got my nails done---a French manicure!!! Do you know how hard it is to take a picture of your own hand...LOL

I have always have had nails done this way for as long as my husband has known me--but when I get pregnant they come off ( or move across country 4 times)---so for Christmas this is what I asked for:)

More Pictures--Christmas Dinner

Jesus's Birthday Cake!

I made Jesus a Birthday Cake:)

Christmas Pictures Part 1

On Christmas Eve, all the kids get new pajamas and slippers--Alexis actually got pajamas and a nightie--she wore the jammies on Christmas eve and then later changed into the nightie...LOL

I wish they made those slippers in my size---they were lined with pink sparkly fuzzy stuff.

Goody Bags!

For Alexis's Class--I made goody bags for her to hand out to her class before her Christmas vacation began at the class party--they are filled with Candy canes and chocolates--stuffed with confetti paper and tied with pretty bows.

This is what we gave the teacher--it is a Christmas mug filled with hot chocolate and a book called Chicken Soup for the Christmas Soul

Menu Plan!

My Weekly Menu Plan:

Most dinners are served with a fresh green salad--always before the main entree--and with all the fresh veggies I can find.

The Dinner rolls I serve are made by me and my trusty bread machine:)

Baked Chicken
Fried Potatoes

Mashed Potatoes
Collard Greens
Dinner Rolls

Hamburger Pie
Green Beans

Spaghetti and Meatballs
Fresh Garlic Bread

Roasted Potatoes
..and Carrots
Steamed Broccoli
Dinner Rolls

...The menu is in no particular order and can change at any time:)

Merry Christmas!

Happy Birthday Jesus!

Thank you!

I made a Christmas wish for you,
For a holiday full of pleasure,
Friends and family all around,
And memories to treasure.
I wish for you a Christmas filled
With joyous holiday cheer;
I wish you a Merry Christmas,
And a very Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas My Dear Friends!

May your day be blessed and filled with love!

Breakfast Casserole *NEW*

This is the breakfast casserole I am going to make for Christmas morning--it is a new to me recipe--and it looks good--and it is pretty much like the one I have made and listed on my sidebar.

1 pound ground pork sausage
1 teaspoon mustard powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 eggs, beaten
2 cups milk
6 slices white bread, toasted and cut into cubes
8 ounces mild Cheddar cheese, shredded

Crumble sausage into a medium skillet. Cook over medium heat until evenly brown; drain.
In a medium bowl, mix together mustard powder, salt, eggs and milk. Add the sausage, bread cubes, and cheese, and stir to coat evenly. Pour into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Cover, and chill in the refrigerator for 8 hours, or overnight.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Cover, and bake 45 to 60 minutes. Uncover, and reduce temperature to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Bake for an additional 30 minutes, or until set.

Happy Monday! I was up and dressed by 6 and out the door by 7---I went to Walmart and got all loose ends done I had to get for Christmas. Remember when I told you I had finished my Christmas shopping--well---I did---BUT, they are all at Kevin's office--he is bringing them home to be wrapped tonight---wish me luck--my friend that is staying with me has offered her help--which I will graciously accept...LOL :)

After Walmart, I then went on to Albertson's and finished all my Grocery shopping for the week and for Christmas Dinner. I AM DONE---I will not have to leave my home for anything. It is pouring rain--and let me just say----that I was soaked after bringing everything in the house---my hair was all wet--and crispy (from the hairspray...LOL)

Now, I am devoting the rest of this week to prepare for Jesus's Birthday! I have lots of bread baking for neighbors and gifts to wrap and food to prepare and cleaning to do to make my home in tip top shape for this special day. I will also be by all of you to wish you all a wonderful Christmas and just to visit!

I must get to work---Blessings to everyone.
Please stay warm and safe! xox

It is a cold and very rainy day--just the way I like it! I hope everyone is able to stay warm and safe. My husband is staying in the office, so that makes me happy knowing he will be inside today.

Christmas Cookie! #1

Happy Tuesday! Little Kevin has a peanut allergy, so that limits me a little on my Christmas Cookie making---all the cookies and candy with peanut/tree nut products has to be changed. I got this idea from another blog. Super easy. There was no baking involved but they look Christmasy. I bought a box of Ginger Snaps and a bag of Chocolate chips--melted the chocolate and spread it on half the cookie, sprinkle them with colored sprinkles and TA-DAH----- A festive cookie!
They tasted wonderful too.

Stay tuned I have another super easy cookie---
