Friday chatter

I was listening to this show on parenting, so to speak--and this lady was giving tips on taking care of a newborn and getting back to work. She was saying to take advantage of having groceries being delivered to your home, hire some one to clean your home, have your laundry done..and so on. I did not like what I was hearing---Okay, I am thinking to myself, she is telling us to spend all this extra money on all these services--wouldn't it be cheaper to not work outside the home and take care of these responsibilities are selves??? I don't know--but I can not understand why some women are in such a rush to get back to work after they have a baby--or what really bothers me is when I hear some moms say how excited they are when summer is over and school starts again--or they complain and say, what am I going to do during there spring break for 2 weeks?? UGH---I love my kids, and my happiest moments is when we are together--I am a stay at home mom---and I love every single moment of it!!! Just like it states in my profile, there is nothing more satisfying then what I am already doing. It makes me so sad when I hear women getting those operations willingly so they can't have anymore children--I am not talking for health reasons--I am talking about men and women doing it for there own selfish reasons--Children are such a gift!!

Well it is Friday--yay!!! I am off to go be in my daughter's class. I then am going to work on more projects and spring cleaning. The sun is out and it is so pretty outside. You all have a wonderful day:)

boo hoo, I want the sun - it is raining here!

I agree with your post. I cringe when I hear people say they can't wait to put their children in school to get some more time. I will admit that at first I have struggled adjusting to being a SAHM and it has taken time for me to enjoy this stage of life. Now, with 3, I am really enjoying it and I look forward to the task of homeschooling that the Lord has placed on my heart. I'll get my "me time" down the road - but I've got some work to get done first! Have a wonderful weekend!

Julieann, I know what you mean. Thanks for having the gumption to say this aloud. My little boy is almost two, and I'm already dreading being apart from him and letting someone else do the teaching. If he does go to public school, I can only imagine how excited I will be to have him back for those vacations and days off. I'm praying my DH will let me homeschool him and any little ones who come along.

Enjoy your weekend!

I agree with you 100%. It is sad to see parents like being away from their kids. If only all parents thought the way you do then children would probably be more behaved and our society wouldn't become what it is!

It really IS sad when you hear people say they can't wait for vacation to be over. I look forward to all the fun things I can do with the kids when they're home. I really do wish I could homeschool them, but it can't happen (reasons out of my control)Like you, I love to help out at school so I can be near them (although my 13 year old doesn't want me hanging around, except for field trips!!)

I know not everyone wants to live this way, but for me, I LOVE being home. Instead of working and paying people to do stuff, I am always thinking "how can I do this or that myself INSTEAD of paying someone else to do it?" so I can keep staying home. I always ask myself how many hours I'd have had to work at my old job to pay for an item or a service, and often I'd rather do it myself and be near my family, than work to pay for it. :-)

You have sensible and loving priorities for your children and it is a joy to see - the values you feel so passionate about.

May others learn from your example.

Blessings to you all this beautiful weekend here in Scotland.

It is very sad indeed the way so many mom's in particular cannot wait to get away from their children. Nothing is more satisfying than being the wife and mother the Lord has called me to be. Next to my husband, my children are my favorite people in the world. Our family loves being together; we consider ourselves tremendously blessed that we are able to homeschool.

Hi Julieann
I agree with you on this. I have a friend that says that about her kids and it makes me cringe every time I hear her say it! My girls are on spring break right now and my 13 and 14 yr old have gone to Nana and Papa's for a week where they will have a wonderful time and be safe etc, but ya know... I'd still rather they were here with me. I guess I'm kinda like a mother hen.... like to have my chicks (no pun intended! lol)gathered under my wings. But like Psalm 91 says, they are sheltered under the shadow of the Almighty! What better place to be.... :o) The mothering insinct is strong and like you I don't understand the lack of mothering that happens in our society! Thanks for your views that you've shared with us today... I'm so glad to see that there are also many other blog friends that feel this way as well!!
Have an awesome weekend. (C:}
