I have this tickle in my throat that will not go away, it has kept me up 3 nights in a row---I don't have anything to cough up either--just a tickle--and I am dry coughing constantly. I don't feel sick at all--just this annoying tickle--I have tried so many things to get rid of it too. Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do to get rid of this tickle in my throat? I would be forever grateful!!
Today is the first day of summer vacation for us--I am so excited, we have so many plans for this summer. Right now, I am planning Alexis's birthday party---I will tell you where it was, after the fact (kwim).
Anyway--HELP!!!! Please--this tickle is driving me crazy!!!

Hi Julieann! I suggest a little honey and lemon juice - about a 1/4 cup lemon juice, and enough honey to make it sweet. You can warm it up, and it's very soothing to your throat! You can keep it on your bedside table and take a sip when you feel a tickle coming on! =) Or, you can add the juice and honey to a glass of water, but the honey and lemon juice are more effective!
Hey Julieann - I hate it when I have that "tickle". I always find that a warm beverage soothes my throat. I prefer hot tea but hot chocolate would work as well. I hope you feel better soon.
Hi Julieann ~ When I have a tickle that won't go away, I take an antihistamine (because the tickle is usually caused by post nasal drip -- even if you're nose isn't runny).
I prefer loratadine for this type of thing. That would be Claritin by brand name. One only takes one pill for every 24 hours, and it does not make you sleepy (like so many other antihistamines do).
If you decide to use it, check with your doc or pharmacist to see if it's safe to take while nursing. My doctor approved me for it during pregnancy and nursing. I tend to have allergies -- especially when I lived across the street from acres of hay fields - lol! I realize it's not the *natural* method, and you may looking for something more along the lines of Tammy's suggestions. :o)
Hope you feel better soon!
Could it be allergies?
I am so sorry that you aren't feeling well. It is NO fun to be ill and try to take care of a little one!!
I agree with Tammy- honey and lemon juice. I'll boil water and stir in lemon and honey. YUM!!!
Also, if you can stand it (which we can becuase we LOVE LOVE LOVE garlic), eat a raw clove of garlic each night before bed. Don't swallow it whole, just make sure you chew it a few times before swallowing. It is antibacterial, antifunal, antibiotic and SUPER wonderful for you!! There have been NUMEROUS times when someone in our home has felt that "tickle" and they take garlic and feel MUCH better the next morning!! But you may have garlic breath the next morning. Of course, if you ate at an Italian restaurant for dinner, you may have garlic breath the next morning, too!! :)
His,
Mrs. U
Are you feeling any better today? Praying for you. <><
Hmm...my first thought was to try a spoon of honey. Something thick to coat it. Maybe it's from allergies?? You may have to try medicine of some sort. I hope you feeling better soon!
Lots of hugs,
Kelli
Oh you poor thing, well when Abby was around 5 years old the docter told her to pour a spoonful of honey when she had a tickle like that and it seemed to help each time. Good luck, seems like a lot of honey to eat at once but maybe thats why it works:)
