Friday's Post

Happy Friday. I did a little shopping yesterday. I bought this huge jug of Vinegar. I was very low, and I just love using vinegar for so many things. I already vacuumed the hard wood floor of dust and then mopped it with watered down vinegar.

My neighbor came over yesterday and brought me this beautiful bouquet of flowers. She said she wanted to thank me for our friendship~~~~How sweet was that. I gave her a big hug!

Last night I roasted a chicken for dinner, and today I am going to use the leftovers for either chicken and dumplings or a casserole~~~it is a rainy day today, so I think a little comfort food is in order:) Have you ever read Fly Lady's Rubber Chicken recipe, it is a great method for making food stretch on a budget. I love it when I can buy frugally and stretch that dollar that my husband works so hard for, kwim?

It is Friday which makes me very happy. Summer is approaching us fast, and that means no school, and I can have all my children with me, YaY!

What is going on at your home?

Beautiful flowers! Good job on stretching a dollar too. I always loved having my kids home with me during the summer too. I'm cleaning the house, doing laundry and a little baking today.

Ahhh, seeing the Albertson's label on the vinegar makes me miss Washington state. That was one of my favorite places to shop.

I know what you mean about stretching a buck! For us, even with two chickens there isn't a ton leftover with all the kiddos. Do you make one or two?

Hi Jenn:) I made one last night, it was almost 5 pounds. I have a lot left over because, I didn't eat any, I had a salad, and little Kevin eats just a tiny bit and Alexis eats like a bird too~~~She eats more of the veggies and salad then the meat, even though, I would never stop them from eating more~~~So basically it was between my husband and older son that ate the most, and it left me with a good amount for another meal. BUT!!! Sometimes everyone surprises me and eats more , and then I just make a stock with the carcuss, I know when the little ones get bigger and start to eat more, I will eventully have to cook two, for leftovers. Did this make sense?

I miss eating chicken!
Here in my part of Oz, even a small chicken costs nearly $8, so I don't buy it very often.
And chicken breasts in the package? Nowadays it's like buying lobster... it's something we only do for special occasions!
