Artichokes!!!
WE LOVE ARTICHOKES!!
who doesn't?? Tee Hee!!
Cut the tips off the artichokes, typically the thorns. Be careful, some are sharp .. I use scissors, easy peasy!
Also slice the top off. not too much, but to make the top flat. Remove the really small leaves off the base.

Cut off the excess stem so it can sit flat.
Set up a big pot that will fit a steaming basket to sit your artichoke in. Fill it about a third of water set your artihoke in it, you can also put a few garlic cloves in the water. Your choice.
Cover the pot and bring to a boil. Once it starts to boil let it boil for about ten minutes then let it simmer for an additional 25 minutes until the leaves pull out with absolutely no effort.
Also, keep an eye on the water, you may need to add more. It's okay, I always add more during the process.

When the artichokes are ready, you can dip the leaves in melted butter, mayonnaise or anything of your dipping choice. You scrape the meaty leaf on your teeth to eat. When all the leaves are gobbled up and scrapped, scoop out the hairy choke and discard, eat the heart. YUMMY!!! BEST PART!!
