Thursday & A Question!

::::Waiving:::::
My Mil is now safe and sound back in Georgia. Someone asked me if I liked her in my comments--and I just adore her--she really is an awesome lady!

We are all sick though---Alexis was first---she is now back to normal. Little Kevin was next and now Kevin and I are both sick--it is icky--sore throat--stuffy nose--achy all over--YUCK! I just do not have time to be sick...LOL. Tony--he NEVER gets sick anymore--he has a very strong immune system. I think it goes back to when he was little and I do this with all my kids--I just do not believe in pumping them with all sorts of anti biotics---my mother used to take me to the Doctor every other week and I was on so many different anti biotics, I don't think my immune system ever learned to work properly--hence, that is why I am always catching what every one has---

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I will be making my grocery list and menu plan today and probably do the shopping tomorrow--I am just not feeling that great to go shopping today--we will see. I will be doing some light housework and I took a chicken out of the freezer for dinner. We were absolutely spoiled while my MIL was here, we ate at all these wonderful restaurants, but now it is back to normal and I do enjoy cooking so it will be nice too.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now, I have something I would like to talk to you all about---I make references to Jon and Kate quite a bit in my posts......and lately I have been reading some things about them that other people have written and some are good and some are not so good. I want your opinions----
If you had a chance to do a reality show like they are doing and be able to make quite a bit of money--would you do it?

Hope you feel better soon.

As for the reality show. There is no amount of money that could get me to put my family or even just me out there like that.

You are right about not taking too many antibiotics. That goes for usuing too many antibacterial wipes and sprays too. It doesn't allow you to build up immunity and it actually makes the bugs stronger. I've had to take care of people who are fighting these super bugs and they can be scary.
I wouldn't do a reality show, but if I had 8 kids to support I maybe would have to change my mind!

Hi Julieann,
Sorry you are all sick there, hope it passes soon. I dont' give my kids medicine either.
Okay so the question? well I would never ever do a Reality show. The thought of film crew in my home filming every move just does not sound good to me. As far as the money goes? well nope, no amount of money would have me do it. My husband I know would never ever do it.
have a happy day Julieann

I totally agree about the antibacterial stuff, I stay away, and am rarely sick. I babysat in my home for 20 years and never had to take off a day for sickness! As fas as the reality show stuff, I would do it! It may be crazy but what the heck. Esp. if I had 8 kids to feed, clothe, and educate. The kids all seem fine and dont seem to mind the cameras. And what a great way to preserve all of those memories. Also, they have gotten to do many things that they would not have gotten to do otherwise with a family that size. My husband and I argue like John and Kate, so it helps me to know we are not alone, lol. Sue

Sorry you have all been sick Jules ....sending get better vibes :) As for the reality bit....I don't know if I would or wouldn't do it. It seems to be an incredible intrusion on your life, kwim? As for Jon and Kate, I love the show and think they are great-they are doing the best they can. As for the $ aspect, I have heard them speak of why they agreed to do it and it wasn't about the money initially or solely for them. Kate said it was a great way to document growth and life that wouldn't ordinarily be documented because who has time for that? So, I don't fault them for any of it. As for them getting paid, look at how many people watch-TLC makes a profit of them so, they are deserving of compensation.

Hope you all get over your sicknesses soon! It's just not fun. We've had our share.
About the reality shows. I would not participate. I'm just too private a person to have my every move watched and filmed. The scrutiny would be awful for me!

Hey Julieann!

(I made cookie pops, too, for Valentine's Day...yours look adorable as hearts!!)

As for J&K, I wouldn't do it. However, if I had sextuplets I could see how I might feel differently because it would be more educational; however, I could see doing a special just once but not a series. I wouldn't want my kids on television. However, it could also be a very good evangelizing and witnessing experience. I guess it all depends on the situation.

Also, I wanted to add that Ed and I met Jon at Toys 'R Us this December! The Gosselins new house is in the same county that our old house was, and I guess we shared the same BRU, haha. He was pretty shy and quiet, but I said hello and wished his family Merry Christmas (there were people having him sign receipts and stuff, he must've felt so awkward). He started up a conversation with Ed and I that lasted about 15 minutes or so - we were all waiting for the customer service guys to bring out the stuff we'd bought, LOL - and he was really nice! Very personable and friendly and down to earth. He and Ed joked about teaching daughters to shoot bebe guns (oh my, LOL) and they were talking about just ordinary family stuff. Nothing TLC or anything. He was very nice to meet, and it gave me a good impression of what their family could really be like.

I wonder what the show and all the attention on the six younger ones is doing to Cara and Maddy? I dont see them much anymore

i would never subject my family to the tv cameras. it has been horrible for that family and especially their marriage. do you see how they act together? they can't stand each other.
mady obviously has serious problems that need attention but jon and kate are too busy with tv to bother with her. cara also has very clear problems, she seems depressed and withdrawn.
one of the tups has migraines and another just asked why they were being filmed. the children are always fighting, screaming and crying, are those signs they aren't affected?
jon and kate made a video they sent to tlc twice before tlc accepted them to do the show, jon and kate were both out of work at that time. they are doing the show only for money, too bad about making memories.
children need a happy, healthy home to thrive, they don't need big trips all over the country.
they also don't need a 1.3 million dollar home. it takes very little to make a child happy and that has nothing to do with money.
each time you watch that show you are contributing to their wallets and to the exploitation of those children. children need to be supported, what children do you know who support their parents?

Hon...only He knows. I just don't know what I would do. I am not in that situation. This was not my first answer to your question. My first thought was selfish. Ya know, I don't watch the show, although I have a bit in the past. It doesn't make me happy. That is what I go by....how a show ultimately suits me..follow your heart, sweet one...

Thanks for posting your cute pops by the way...we are kindred spirits, my dear!

Julieann,

Hello and thanks for your wonderful blog. You are such an inspiration. I totally agree with the last two posts about Jon & Kate. I find the show so disturbing. There seems to be clear evidence that it is all about the money for Jon & Kate. I can't believe that the show will last much longer -- it is an "unhappy show." My friends, family, and I refuse to watch and, thus, support the show. I have done a great deal of research; and it truly appears that they are "living off" their children. What exploitation!! Oh well, enough. But your blog makes many readers happy.

Julieann,
Your cookie pops are so cute. I'm sure they brightened the day of all who received them. I personally received jumbo shrimp and crab from DH for Valentines, instead of the customary chocolate, which usually gets eaten by the kids anyway! LOL
I hope your MIL doesn't get sick. It's so nice you had a good time together. How could she not with a DIL like you?
About Jon and Kate, I trust they know best for their family. I know for mine, it would destroy us completely. We need the nucleus of our family with the world shut out to get to those tender places in the heart where much of the good stufff happens. I'm not saying it can't happen whilest being documented, I'm just saying that with my bunch, when the camera (or visiting in-laws) visit, the DRAMA/acting/cheesy/performance/competitive look-at-me-look-at-me thing can go into overdrive pretty quickly. :-p That's just my bunch. So A) it wouldn't be an accurate portrayal of anything 'real' and B) the fallout of that environment would not be worth any monetary exchange.

I can't wait to see what you come up with next. I thought of you when I bleached and organized my fridge last weekend. I want to get a rug now too! Hee-hee.

Feel better soon!
((cyber hugs))

Hi Julieann, it's been awhile since I've been around here, it was *lovely* to get a comment from you on my blog today! I hope you and you family are feeling better soon. (o:

As to your question----I would *not* allow cameras into my home, especially if I had children. And I think J&K's show is dreadful. The way Kate treats Jon, how selfish and self-centered they are and their sense of entitlement is disgusting. Not to mention what they've done to their family members (especially Aunt Jodi) is atrocious!

I used to like the show--in the beginning--but something just felt very wrong in my gut about them. And then the more I've learned about them the more I understand my initial feelings.

I rarely watch the show anymore and if I do watch it my husband isn't in the room because he can't *stand* the show.

Blessings,
Michele

I hope that all of you get to feeling better soon.

In regards to the reality TV question, I would say no. It is hard enough to deal with family things when you have company, much less the whole world seeing you.

Have a blessed weekend!

Adorable cookie suckers! You are such a great Mom!

On the TV show. NO WAY. NO HOW. John and Kate used to be one of my favorite shows, but it has turned into a "if you can't give me something for free, then you won't be on my show" for Kate. She has moved away from all the people that loved and helped ground the kids (Aunt Jodie, etc). You can google it and see how she acts at book signings. TLC giving them the "studio mansion" is just ridiculous. It's not a house, it's a studio, complete with studio lights and studio sound systems. I feel so sorry for the 8 kids. J & K have no jobs..their job is to "pimp" the kids out to anyone who will pay (with merchandise, trips, $$). It's nothing more than paying to see the freak show at the circus, same idea. It's interesting that the twins have not been shown on the show in quite awhile. Maybe they are old enough to tell their parents NO way. Or just act up so ridiculously that the parents can't show them? Sad on so many levels. Just my opinion :)

I love Jon & Kate!! I've watched their show from the beginning and have really enjoyed watching the babies grow up. I don't fault them for doing what THEY think is necessary to provide for THEIR families future. Can you imagine how much money it will cost to send all of those kids to college? They are a blessed family and I will continue to watch them until they decide to stop making shows.
