My Dad!

Last week, I traveled across the country to California, on a mission to see my Dad!!  I had tried several times and and spent thousands of dollars to see him.  Each time, the flight was canceled, things were changed because of the pan dem ic. I wasn't taking any chances, I told no one of my mission and I was going to get to California if it was the last thing I did!!!  I did, I did it!!!  I saw my Dad!!  My dad is in his 80's and I missed him dearly.  We talk on the phone regularly, almost everyday.  He is my rock, my father and my confidante.  He is getting older and his mind is not what it used to be, but if there is one thing he remembers is, I am Julie, I am his daughter and he loves me...I also happen to be his favorite as he has always told me.....his favorite person...tee hee!!! I got a huge hug as I left, and he told me he loved me, tears easily flowed from my eyes as I drove away.  The next day, when I was back home in Georgia, I called him and he said, you are my daughter and I love you.  Hearing my father tell me he loves me is so very special to me.  I will miss those words one day.  My father raised me since I was a young girl and I owe him so much.  He is with his wife and a nurse comes over during the week to make sure he is doing well and helps bathe him.  I know this is so hard on my father and if he ever wanted to be here with me, I would have in a heartbeat.  For now, he is with his wife and things are okay.

On my side, I just have my father and he is enough.

You never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory....

I love this! It's such a blessing to have a wonderful Dad. I have one too and he just turned 92. I'm glad you were able to spend that time with him.
