Have you ever met a feminist that was happy, I mean REALLY happy? This is what I was listening to on the radio this morning as I was driving. So, it made me think-----
I love my family--I adore my husband and children. I love cleaning my home, I love cooking for my family--breakfast, lunch, dinner--snacks---I love knowing how much they want to eat my cooking. I love getting my daughter's clothes ready for the next day, knowing that her pink dress must be pressed. My husband's clean clothes all ready to go and how he depends on me for these things--my husband depends on me to take care of our home, our children--him!!! He knows that when he is at work working hard, I am at home working just as hard too. I would never want to do a man's work---I love being a girl--I love wearing pretty dresses, pretty perfume--having babies--and being caretaker of my family. My husband may not buy me flowers everyday----or jewels---but, he will stop at the store after work and bring me home my creamer when he noticed it was low that morning---he will clear the dinner table off for me when I am upstairs feeding the baby, he will call me just to tell me he loves me---in the morning he will kiss me gently on the cheek not to wake me, but just to do it before he leaves for work.
You see, there is nothing more in this lifetime that God has given me that I would rather be doing then what I am doing right now. I was at the grocery store on Friday, and I had all three of my children with me, Little Kevin was in his little seat in the cart--Alexis was holding on to the side, and Tony was standing next to me---I thought at that very moment--I am HAPPY!!!! This IS happiness---the sweet faces of my children---Oh, how I love them. My husband, my dear sweet husband--works so hard---I can see the pain in his face when he can't give us everything---I can see the little worry lines on his forehead at times, and I know he is thinking of things that he is worried about and doesn't want to worry me with them---I hug him and ask him if I still hypnotize him with my beauty---and I giggle and he kisses me and says YES, I still hypnotize him---even though I can be mean at times---I have terrible OCD, and if things just don't go thus way--I become so frantic and frazzled, but Kevin loves me for all my imperfections---even when I am yelling on the top of my lungs---what the DOG DID...LOL.
This is happiness, this is MY happiness--and I thank God everyday for what I so don't deserve but cherish with all my heart!!! xoxoxo
I couldnt agree more..I feel the exact same way as you.

You have said what my heart has been saying for years! There is no place that I feel I belong more than at home. I love taking care of my family. You know, come to think about it most feminist that you see or hear about are pretty angry people in general.
ReplyDeleteJulieann, that was so sweet!!! I LOVE this post!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you don't mind- I linked to this post on my blog.
ReplyDeleteSweet post. My husband is my rock and my rudder in the storm. I have no idea what I would do without him. Truly the woman who has a good husband is blessed indeed. That includes us! LOL
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I love what Mrs. Darling said - so very true! I couldn't do what I do each day without my hubby's love and support - nor would I want to try it without him!
ReplyDeleteJulieann~what a wonderful post! How very touching...and it's sad that some women would take offense at the thought that this could be something that a woman would WANT to do! I do enjoy what I'm doing and am so grateful that I don't have to go to work full time because my hubby works hard everyday to be able give us all a home..food in our tummies...clothes on our backs, etc etc! What a wonderful sacrifice for us and I'm so truly grateful.
ReplyDeleteAwww what a sweet post Julieann! While I am not the stellar cook and housekeeper you are I do agree in many ways. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat post. So very true.
ReplyDeleteI so love what I am doing too..being an at home mom...being there for our kids. Isn't it great that we can do that for them.
I just love your blog.
ReplyDeleteI recently quit my high-power job after 11 years to be a SAHM...and it was the best decision I've ever made.
My house is cleaner, my meals are homemade, and best of all our family is happier than ever!

This is how it has been for me for 45 1/2 years and I would not trade one moment, one sec. for the life of those women who want to be equal. I love the place God has put me. He has given me the best of all things. So you keep being happy, it only gets better. connie from Texas
ReplyDeleteI loved this post, Julieann!! I feel the same way as you!! I love taking care of my family and home!

Oh Julieann!! I agree with you 100000%!!! I love taking care of my husband, children and home. This makes me happy! I get JOY from serving my family!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a WONDERFUL post!
His,
Mrs. U
I am so glad that you are so happy! I am happy too! I think the womens movement in the 70s did some good in some areas, like fair wages for working women, but having it all with a full time career and trying to raise your children and run your home is really an impossible dream. I work part-time and truly am at my happiest when I am in my cozy home and everything is clean and nice and my husband and children are around me and I am making a yummy dinner!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day! Sharon
I agree with you completely... it is so wonderful to have husbands who appreciate our work at home.
ReplyDeleteI love this Julieann! This is the second post today I've read on this subject but I never tire of it and always find it so encouraging!
ReplyDeleteAnd just a couple of days ago, out of the blue, my husband thanks me for always having his laundry done. He said he never has to wonder if he's going to have clean clothes and he really appreciates it! Of course that made me feel wonderful!
Thank you!
~Mrs.B
That was so beautiful! I feel the same way, I thank God for the blessings He has given me. It is an honor to take care of your family, a wonderful honor.
ReplyDeleteWas the report you were listening to the one about the recent study comparing men's happiness with women's? Today, I just happened to catch a segment on a morning news show about that.
ReplyDeleteTo me, the interesting thing was that in the 1970's, a research study found that more women than men said they were happy. When the study was repeated recently, researchers were surprised to find that today more men than women say that they are happy.
The researchers had expected that the greater "freedom and number of choices" that women have today would increase their happiness. But, if you really listened to some quotes from a few of the study's women subjects, it wasn't hard to figure out what's going on. The women reported tremendous pressure from society to have a career outside the home, even if their hearts were with home. They found it hard to cope with today's expectations that a woman must "have it all and do it all" at the same time. So, is it surprising that a lot of women feel more pressured and stressed today, versus her happier 1970's counterpart? I'm not surprised.
Julieann, awesome post!! I find being at home and serving my family much more rewarding than working outside the home. A good friend and I have had discussions about how we hear women mention that they want to stay home to be with their children, but yet these same women aren't willing to give anything up in order to do it--the expensive house, car, vacations, eating out all of the time, etc. Feminists are miserable women--and most men do not want to come home to a woman they have to compete with. I think I'm rambling...
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Paula
Elizabeth--I was listening to Dr. Laura--your radio show sounded quite interesting too.
