I will stick with my thoughts from a long time ago! I think it's time for them to quit the show. They have "pimped" out their children for the sake of money and a million dollar home and life of a star. NOW they are risking their marriage and the happiness of their children. It's time to say ENOUGH and let the kids be normal kids without cameras 24/7. It's time for Jon and Kate to focus on each other instead of the persona on the camera. Jon has basically admitted having indescretions, now Kate is admitting in the current people magazing (on people . com) that she has doubts her marriage will survive. She granted an interview and was honest. Now the new season is being delayed because the writers are hurrying to write in the marriage problems into the story line. HELLO! It is a FAMILY show and the viewers (lots of children) don't need to see Jon speak of his activities outside his marriage and they don't need to see Kate upset and talking about it. It's a shame that this couple sold out...lost all contact with family (including Aunt Jodi who they cut off). They need to turn the TV cameras off, move out of the TLC million dollar mansion, get jobs like the rest of the US population and get real. Focus on their kids and marraige and not what the public thinks. Just my 2 cents! Next...
Hi Anonymous, thank you for your comment. They had shown the very first special on them and then I saw a current one, and when you see the first special against the last episode the change is so phenominal(sp). I so enjoyed the first and second special. If you have watched it from the beginning it was a gradual change, but when you see the first episode next to the last, it is so drastic the change. It was like two diffrent families.
I don't know what to think. I haven't walked a mile in their shoes, so I'm reserving judgment. Just because viewers see a lot of what goes on, it doesn't mean they see everything. If folks don't agree with what they see, there are plenty of other viewing options.
That being said, I'm still fascinated with the workings of large families...
I really don't watch the news or pay much attention to gossip. I don't know what is going on except for what I just read here. I will keep watching if they continue the show:) deezie
Chrissy, I agree with your post 100%~~I don't know what to think. You are right, none of us have walked a mile in their shoes. I just have noticed a major change from season one to season now, I guess we all change, but you are right, I should not judge, and I do struggle with this.
Deezie, I don't listen to the news either, but the news screen pops up everyday and they are on it, so I am curious and of course I read.
To be honest, I adore this show, and want the best for them. If any of the news stories are true, this can ALL be fixed by them~~~ it can!!
jodi and kevin just did an interview, they confirmed the marriage is over and that kate has some real psych problems, she thinks she's a big star. the children are in a mess as the fighting has been going on for close to a year. kate is only home 10 days a month, jon and the nanny have been taking care of the children.
please don't continue to watch, that encourages kate to go on in her fantasies as a great mother. they are exploiting those children and that has to stop.
I didn't mean to sound as if I was being critical of you or accusing you of judgment...please forgive me if that's how I sounded...it wasn't what I meant at all! I was only speaking for myself.
You're right, though, Kate's attitude in particular seems different. Who knows?
here's the link to jodi and kevin's interview. http://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2009/05/exclusive-interview-jon- and-kate-shocker-her-brother-says-their-marriage-over
I was only giving my opinion as Julieanne asked, I wasn't juding them. My opinion is Kate let all the star power go to her head. Jon hates the loss of privacy (he has confirmed this on many interviews, including the finale show of this last season where he said he didn't know IF there would be a next season). Kate flies all over the country with her cute body guard (suspected boyfriend as said by Jon during an interview) and is rarely home for the kids. I do not like the way Kate treats Jon on the show. I do not like her superiority she airs. I have watched the show from the very beginning with my daughter and the changes have been incredible. I feel bad for the twins as they obviously have a lot to deal with and react in very understandable and typical ways. Bottom line - Kate LOVES the fame, Jon hates it. I think Jodi and Kate's brother summed it up perfectly that the J&K need to focus on the 8 kids and dump the show. Kate cut out all her family after the 8 were born. The kids don't get to see Aunt Jodi whom they adore, nor the grandparents that took care of the twins while Kate was in the hospital on bed rest. TLC will want to continue the show at ALL costs because they are getting HUGE amounts of free publicity right now and loving it. I will NOT watch the show if J&K split up, I will not watch the show if they air their marriage problems on the show and I will not watch the show if I feel they are portraying a happy family when they are not. JMO...I'm not judging them, only saying what I think they should do.
Anonymous, I appreciate your comments, and yes, I did want feedback~~~~it was one of my favorite shows, and I just can't believe the turn events~~Very sad if all is true. I can't help but be curious too.
Please don't be offended by the judging comment, it wasn't directed towards our comments, but her own. She is a very nice person and I know she was stating it for her self not us:)
I was only speaking for myself...sorry if I stepped on anyone's toes. It can be so hard to get your real meaning across this way, when you can't read facial expressions. Again, sorry if I sounded critical.
Julieann - You are a sweetheart...thanks for your kind words about me.
As to J & K, I've seen, unfortunately, things on the internet that are so hateful towards them. That's got to hurt. I think, that even if they hadn't done the show, they'd be tabloid fodder, just because they're in such and unusual situation.
Remember Becky and Keith Dilley? They have the oldest living set of American 'tups. In their book, they talk about how tour buses would drive past their house and strangers would ring their doorbell, just wanting to see the kids. It would be a hard situation to be in, imho.
Again, sorry for any confusion...I really am a nice person ;0)
Chrissy, you are a very sweet lady. I actually went to the other Chrissy Blog telling her so thinking it was her, not you~~AHHH,, anyway, I adore both Chrissys. Have I now confused everyone???
I, my friends, and family quit watching the show a long time ago. We could no longer stand to watch the demeaning, hateful attitude exhibited by Kate towards others, particularly her own husband. It was so sad. How could a GOOD mother still continue with the show -- putting the show (her own desires, that is) before her precious children? I feel so very sorry for the children. The exploitation of these children borders on criminal. Watching the show only adds to this exploitation. You have to wonder if this family turmoil would have occurred if they had chosen a normal existence away from cameras and the limelight. Greed and the love of money is a terrible thing. I will never watch this show!!
Okay, I want to thank everyone that left there opinions~~~~BUT----and it is just a small but~~~ I have a few anonymous comments, and and I think I know anonymous number 1 left a few comments, but I am not sure about the others~~~~ If by chance there are more anonymous comments could you leave like a number or a letter?, so I know who is who~~okay this may sound silly, but I love all my commenters, and I just don't want to lump all the anonymous in one group~~Did that make sense? If you don't want to do it, no worries~~I am just happy you are here:)
i read kate's interview in people and felt very sad for her. i think tension and pressure from the show and 8 little kids got to jon and he is "acting out" i don't know if there was ana ffair - nor does kate- but it isn't ruled out.
the show is their job, their way of making money and even tho i wouldn't have agreed to cameras all the time , this is how they earn a living and you can't just stop on a dime, kwim?!
it's really sad actually, not something to point at and make fun of like so many people are doing. ( not you!)
anon- you need to ask yourself why anyone would "dish" about something so sad as a marriage in trouble FOR MONEY?! what kind of people are they? why would you believe anything they had to say?
I have enjoyed the Duggar family shows more than the Jon and Kate plus 8 ones -- not that I've watched many of either one. I'm not sure why I enjoy the Duggars more -- Maybe, it's because the first one I saw was the special in which they, as a family, built their house with all the special things for large families, and I found it very interesting to see how they designed it and all worked together. Maybe, it's also because they have children of all ages and stages, which -- to me -- makes for a more interesting mix.
As someone else said, I, too, am always fascinated by the workings of a large family. I would hope that our culture gets to see some positive images of larger families. It's probably a more worthwhile subject than the themes of a lot of reality TV shows. On the other hand, I wonder if it's really healthy for any family (or for any individual)to have the camera on them so much of the time. I think it would be a lot of pressure for both parents and children, and you'd really have to be very grounded not to get caught up in it all.
